After claiming he was exploited by his wife’s family, Derick Dillard wants to help others in similar positions. On Tuesday, August 25, he chatted with a fan on Twitter as he revealed just what he’s hoping to use his law degree for.

“Today was a special day — my son’s [first] day of kindergarten and my 22nd (and last) first day of school,” he wrote. When one of his followers asked what he’s hoping to do after he finishes law school, he answered, “Help people who are taken advantage of, among other things.”

Derick Dillard Says He Wants to Help People Taken Advantage of Amid Family Feud With Counting On Star Jim Bob Duggar

Over the past year, Derick, 31, has accused Jim Bob Duggar of forcing him and wife Jill Dillard (née Duggar) to participate in filming Counting On long after they wanted to leave the show. In July 2020, he even accused the 19 Kids and Counting patriarch of “humiliating and threatening” them when they initially tried to quit. “He will attack the victims if they threaten his show,” he claimed. In an additional comment, he revealed he and Jill, 29, are “in counseling” because of the “abuse” they went through.

The father of two even seemingly compared his wife’s dad to registered sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who faced charges of sex trafficking before his August 2019 death. “We have to break this culture that cares more about money and ratings than protecting the most vulnerable,” he wrote. “[Jeffrey] Epstein already showed us that, if you have enough money, power and influence, you can get away with anything. Sadly, it doesn’t stop with him. There are many more stories in this world that are not too different existing in a culture where it can still thrive.”

It sounds like Derick wants to do his part to make sure that victims get justice — and his wife has his back. In the days after her husband called out her dad and TLC following the season 11 premiere of Counting On, Jill called him her “favorite person” in a sweet Instagram post that featured a photo of the couple meeting up for lunch. The family feud may have come between the Dillards and the Duggars, but it looks like Jill and Derick’s relationship is still rock solid.
