Rest in peace. Demi Lovato took to Instagram to mourn the loss of her friend, Thomas, on Wednesday, October, 9. The 27-year-old admitted she lost her pal to addiction and warned others of the dangers of substance abuse.

“Devastated. Please hold your loved ones tight. Tell them they are special and that you love them. Make sure they know it. RIP to my boo @sirtruss,” Demi wrote on her Instagram Story with a photo of her fallen friend.

“Addiction is NO joke … ,” she added. “Heaven gained this beautiful angel last night because of that terrible disease. I’m crushed and will always miss you @sirtruss. If you or someone you know is struggling please know it’s okay to ask for help.”

The songstress has been open about her own struggles with addiction. It’s been over a year since the brunette beauty was hospitalized for an apparent drug overdose. Demi reflected on her relapse back in March writing, “Today I would’ve had 7 years sober.” She added, “I don’t regret going out because I needed to make those mistakes, but I must never forget that’s what they were: mistakes.”

Back in August, a source told In Touch exclusively that Demi is “doing great” and back to her “creative self” on her journey to recovery. “She’s writing songs, working out, meditating and just filling her path, and of course being sober,” the insider exclusively told In Touch. “She feels like her last relapse was an eye-opener and a reminder that she needs to stay diligent and work her sobriety program.”

As for her love life, Demi is more interested in stay on track with her sobriety then finding someone new. “Demi is working on herself, there’s no room for any serious relationships right now.” The source added, “Dating isn’t a priority. She and Henry Levi are just friends right now, and no, she’s not dating Bachelor Mike Johnson. Boyfriends take time and relationships are hard works. She has plenty of time for that later. It’s about being present, writing songs and taking it slow. She’s in an amazing place right now.” We are so proud of Demi and are so sorry for her loss.
