Christina Applegate’s Rep Responds to Hospitalization Speculation

A report of Christina Applegate being hospitalized surfaced on Thursday, April 16, and her rep has now responded to the situation.

“I have no comment on whether she is in the hospital or what her medical treatments are,” Applegate’s rep said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly on Friday, April 17. “She’s had a long history of complicated medical conditions that she has been refreshingly open about, as evidenced in her memoir and on her podcast.”

The day prior, TMZ reported that the former Dead to Me star, 54, had been admitted to the hospital in early March. However, the reason for her hospitalization was unclear.

Applegate first revealed she had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) nearly five years ago.

“Hi friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS. It’s been a strange journey,” the Sweetest Thing actress wrote via X in August 2021. “But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition. It’s been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some asshole blocks it.”

Since then, Applegate has been open about her struggles with the disease. In March 2025, during an episode of MeSsy — the podcast she cohosts with Jamie Lynn Sigler, who also has MS — she admitted that since she was initially diagnosed, she had been hospitalized more than 30 times.

“I’ve been in the hospital upwards of 30 times from throwing up and diarrhea and pain,” Applegate said in response to an email from a listener who said they were having issues with the same problems. “That is unimaginable, okay? They’ve done every test known to man on me, put so much radiation into my body from CT scans to everything else. And literally just in the last month, I have figured it out.”

She went on to suggest that the listener “talk to your doctor about motility issues,” adding that “one of the things with MS is that it slows down our organs.”

As In Touch previously reported, last month Applegate revealed that she had already purchased her burial plot.

“I have to pick my tree out ’cause they’re going to plant a tree there ’cause it’s really sunny,” the Married With Children alum said during the March 19 episode of Wild Card With Rachel Martin. “And I want my visitors to not, you know, be sweating.”
