‘Dream Street’ Musician Chris Trousdale Dead at 34 After ‘Complications’ From Coronavirus

Gone too soon. Dream Street musician Chris Trousdale died at the age of 34 after contracting coronavirus, TMZ reports on Wednesday, June 3. The singer passed away “due to complications from COVID-19,” a family member reveals. Trousdale died at a hospital in Burbank, California, on the evening of June 2.

The star rose to fame with Jesse McCartney, Greg Raposo, Matt Ballinger and Frankie Galasso in the iconic boy band before his passing. With popular singles like “It Happens Every Time,” “Gotta Get the Girl” and “Matter of Time,” they topped the pop charts in 2001. Despite their incredible success, the group decided to go their separate ways in 2002.

Jesse took to Instagram to mourn the loss of this friend hours after news broke. “Chris had an explosively charming personality with boundless amounts of talent,” he wrote. “Together we made up two of the five members of a boyband called Dream Street. We were young kids with budding talent who shared an overwhelming love for music and performing. Chris, in my opinion, was the most popular among us, who had a way of drawing every eye to what he was doing on stage. As an incredibly trained dancer, he would pick up an entire dance number in a matter of minutes; something that would take us days. I truly envied him as a performer. We were a part of something people never get to experience in an entire lifetime at the tender ages of 12 and 14. Although we were a band for only 3 years, at that age, it feels like a lifetime and we built a real brotherhood. My deepest sympathies go out to his mother whom I know cherished him dearly. RIP Chris. I’ll never forget your smile.”

Having began his career on Broadway, he also secured several gigs as an actor. Trousdale appeared in an episode of Disney Channel’s Shake It Up as a 16 year old pop star who made a name for himself after sharing videos on the internet. Trousdale was also featured in Disney Channel’s Austin & Ally playing as band member to a group called Boynado. Fans may recall seeing the performer on Lucifer and Days of Our Lives as well.

In the wake of his untimely death, heartbroken fans have shared their condolences on his Instagram page. “I can’t believe the news. Was a huge Dream Street fan/supporter from 2001 on. You will be missed, Chris!!” one sweetly wrote on his latest post. “Going to miss you and your beautiful voice!! God gained another angel. Fly high!” another echoed.

Trousdale’s close friend Celesta Deastis also spoke out with a heartfelt message of her own about the impact he had on her life. “A large piece of my heart is gone,” she began her emotional statement. “August 10th, 2013 you entered my life. You gave me a certain sense of home. You made me laugh harder than I thought was possible. I’ve told you things I’ve never told anybody. You introduced me to the man I’m in love with.”

“I would give anything to hug you one last time,” Deastis continued. “I would give anything to take a random trip to the beach with you in the middle of the night. I would give anything to hold you and tell you how much we all love you. My brother, my best friend, my love. Please rest in paradise, my Chris.”
