Chet Hanks is living by the pirate code these days.
“It’s a pirate’s life for me,” Chet, 35, said during an Instagram Reel posted on April 2. “I just ordered a big pirate flag on Amazon and it came today. I hung it outside on the side of my trailer. Just a big ass pirate flag – the Jolly Roger.”
The actor, who is the son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, is embracing the new lifestyle amid his move to a trailer park in Tennessee. He added that he was actually considering getting a tattoo of the flag on his stomach.
“That’s really what I realized I represent,” the Surreal Life alum continued. “That is what I’m all about – being a pirate.”
The Running Point star told his followers he couldn’t sleep due to an “overwhelming feeling of excitement.”
“Total freedom,” Chet said. “Something about this change to a nomadic lifestyle has not sparked in my soul, but dumped gas on something that was already lit.”

He explained that “this was how [he was] meant to be living.”
“I got a trailer. It’s not an Airstream, but I’m really happy with it,” he told Jimmy Fallon at the time. “I got my kitchen. I got a walk-in shower — that’s a big deal with trailers, if it’s a walk-in shower because sometimes they combine the toilet and the shower.”
Chet also made it clear that he wasn’t living in a stereotypical trailer park.
“It’s not what you think,” he shared. “You think, ‘Oh, you’re gonna live in a trailer park. It might be a little sketchy. It might be a little dangerous.’ It’s all just retirees, you know? Great people.”
