Just last week, it was reported that Teen Mom 2 star Chelsea Houska took legal steps to change daughter Aubree’s last name to Lind-DeBoer, incorporating new husband Cole DeBoer’s name. And, according to The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, the eight-year-old is totally ecstatic about the change.
“Aubree is so happy that DeBoer was added to her name,” a source close to the fam told the outlet. “Over the last year or so, especially after [Cole and Chelsea’s son] Watson was born, Aubree has repeatedly asked Chelsea and Cole why she’s the only one in the family who doesn’t have ‘DeBoer’ as her last name. She understood she has a different dad, obviously, but she kind of felt left out being the only one with a different last name.” According to the source, the elementary schooler expressed her desires on camera, but those scenes didn’t make the cut on the MTV show.

After the name change was official, Chelsea and Cole allegedly made sure to properly celebrate the occasion. “They surprised her with a cake that had ‘Aubree Lind-DeBoer’ on it,” the insider said. “Aubree was so thrilled and it was adorable.”
This name change has been in the works for a few months now. Back in October, Chels opened up about starting the process. “I’m meeting a lawyer tomorrow to ask what the steps would be to hyphenate Aubree’s last name,” she told a friend on an episode of TM2. “She thinks it’s a great idea. If you ask her, she wants Watson to know that’s his sister.”
The 26-year-old did, however, express concern that ex and baby daddy Adam Lind would try to halt the process. “My lawyer is going to get a hold of his attorney to see if he will agree to it,” she said. “But she doesn’t expect to hear back from him because I think his attorney has a hard time getting a hold of him.” Well, it looks like the fam didn’t run into any major issues. Congrats to the DeBoer clan!
