Renée Zellweger and Ant Anstead may have just celebrated their five-year anniversary, but she’s still on the fence about getting engaged.
“Renee and Ant have been through some ups and downs but things are very much on track and he would love to make her his wife,” a source tells In Touch. “She’s the one holding out. She adores him, but she has a lot of baggage around marriage and engagement.”
The Oscar-winning actress, 57, was previously wed to country singer Kenny Chesney but filed for an annulment in 2005 after just four months of marriage, citing “fraud” as the reason for their whirlwind split.
“She vowed she would never marry again and she has stuck to that,” says the source, noting that Zellweger was with ex-boyfriend Doyle Bramhall II for 7 years and “never married him” either.

It’s nothing personal.
“The fact that she and Ant have hit five years and she’s still resistant to marriage has nothing to do with her commitment to him,” the source explains. “It’s more about this rule she made for herself.”
As In Touch previously reported, Zellweger has never been happier than with Anstead, 47, and friends believe this relationship is the best and healthiest she’s ever been in.
“She doesn’t want to jinx it and ruin what they have by adding in all the pressure that comes with marriage,” notes the source. “And the more Ant brings it up, the more flustered she gets.”
