‘Amazing Race’ Season 25 Contestant Dr. Jim Raman Found Dead in His South Carolina Home

Our hearts go out to his family. On Tuesday, March 12, Dr. Jim Raman — a contest from season 25 of The Amazing Race — was found dead in his home. According to local station WIS News 10, emergency responders were called to a South Carolina residence early in the morning where they discovered his body. Though a spokesman for the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the news and that they were looking into the doctor’s death, WIS reports that no one has been arrested or detained as part of the investigation.

“Nothing suspicious or criminal is involved with the case you are referencing and out of compassion and respect for family my office will not comment on it,” Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said in a statement obtained by WIS. The department also further confirmed that there are not currently any persons of interest in the case, though a cause of death has not yet been released.

Irmo Smiles, the dental office where Raman worked with his wife, Dr. Misti Raman, released a statement of their own. “Irmo Smiles has suffered a tragic loss this week. It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Dr. Jim Raman. Your patience is greatly appreciated as we give Dr. Misti Raman time to grieve the loss of her loving husband.”

The husband and wife duo competed on The Amazing Race as a couple on season 25. According to Raman’s cast bio for the show, he considered himself to be an “ambitious, dedicated, and unfiltered” person. “I am blessed to be able to transform people’s smiles with braces or Invisalign and thereby raise their self-image and self-esteem. Helping a child who hates their teeth have a smile they are proud of is amazing,” he wrote at the time. “Personally, my children are my biggest source of pride and pleasure.”
