‘Alaskan Bush People’ Star Bear Brown Says His Family ‘Won’t Give Up’ After the Fire at Their Farm

They may have suffered a “devastating loss” due to a fire on the farm, but the Alaskan Bush People stars know how to pick themselves up by their bootstraps and start fresh. Following the news of the disaster on August 19, Bear Brown told his fans and followers that his family is hanging in there.

“Oh, Bear! Super sorry for all the loss. I never got to see the home in [Washington]. Hope your family is safe from the flames now. You can rebuild, and you will because your family is resilient!” they wrote. “Thank you!” Bear, 33, responded. “Yes! It was beautiful! We won’t give up, that I guarantee!”

The Discovery Channel star first broke the news about his family’s farm on Instagram. “We suffered a devastating [loss] yesterday,” he wrote on August 19. “A fire swept through our mountain, our home! The [loss] seems to be great! It’s still burning! I’ll keep everyone posted! God bless!”

Fans were quick to offer their condolences — and their well wishes — after watching the Browns build their home from scratch on the family’s TV show. After Ami Brown’s cancer battle forced them to move away from Alaska, the stars initially settled in Los Angeles, California, while the matriarch underwent treatment. Once she had recovered, they looked to return to their rural way of life, but hoped to find property not as remote as their original home. Billy Brown revealed they didn’t want to be too far away from a hospital as they found somewhere new to settle.

After originally exploring the possibility of making Colorado their home, the Browns found their land in Washington. During season 8, the bush people turned a mountainside into their home, eventually growing it into a farm they called North Star Ranch. The land was home to not only the Brown family tree but also their animals, including goats, cattle, horses and ostriches. “We fell in love with the whole area,” patriarch Billy told People in February 2019. “This is what we always wanted but just couldn’t have up north.”

The family surely won’t have an easy time rebuilding — but fans know they’re up to the task.
