Cue the fireworks! Instead of a BBQ or pool party, these celebrities opted for an event that’s a bit more elevated.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce aren’t the only stars who decided to plan their special day around the 4th of July weekend.
From Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher‘s private Independence Day nuptials to Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton‘s intimate affair amid the coronavirus pandemic, In Touch looks back at the famous pairings who got married around the July 4 holiday.
The Pretty Woman star held her second marriage — to the cinematographer, 57 — on July 4, 2002, after the two met and worked together on the 2001 film The Mexican, in which she starred opposite Brad Pitt. Last year, when the couple — who share children Henry, 19, and twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, 21 — celebrated 23 years of marriage, Roberts, 58, posted a sweet Instagram photo of the two lounging amid nature, writing: “You + Me = 23.”

The That ’70s Show costars, who had known each other for years before tying the knot, made things official on July 4, 2015. Kutcher, 48, was previously married to Demi Moore, 63, in September 2005; however, the two divorced in 2013. At the time of Kutcher’s marriage to Kunis, 42, the couple put a lot of effort into keeping their nuptials top-secret. “It was a ninja effort,” Kutcher said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, as In Touch previously reported. “We really didn’t want helicopters at our wedding, and it’s a legitimate concern. So we, I was like posting things on social media that we were in different locations…because we didn’t want to be screaming our vows at each other. And being like, ‘Forever? Did you say never?'”

Before there was Taylor and Travis, there was Posh and Becks. Like Swift and Kelce, the Spice Girls singer, 52 — who was one-fifth of music’s biggest girl group at the time — and the world-famous athlete, 51, were constantly being watched by the press. The couple announced their engagement in 1998, but before they tied the knot on July 4, 1999, they welcomed son Brooklyn Beckham. Their first child, who is now estranged from his parents, was the ring bearer. The couple has since welcomed sons Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 21, as well as daughter Harper, 14.
The TV personality married the late Black Sabbath rocker on July 4, 1982, in Maui, Hawaii — but the evening took a turn after they said “I do.” Sharon, 73, explained in an interview with Ozzy prior to his death that he got very drunk after they tied the knot. “You never even got out of the van,” she told her husband, who died on July 22, 2025, at age 76. “I don’t know where you were going, some club. And you never even got out of the van because you were already so drunk on the way there.” The former Talk host said that Ozzy never even came into their room on their special night, to which he asked, “So you spent the wedding night on your own?” In the morning, according to Sharon, “You came in and went, ‘Oh, ah, I’ve left something downstairs. I’ve got to go.’ And you went back for a second round of drinks!”

The Grey’s Anatomy alum, 50 — who has since gotten divorced and now identifies as non-binary — married the business analyst on Independence Day in 2012. “On July 4th 2012, after a year-long engagement, Sara Ramirez and Ryan Debolt were married in an intimate ceremony in New York. The private event was attended by close family and friends,” Ramirez’s rep confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter at the time.

The 77-year-old “Piano Man” singer, who has been married a total of four times, wed his current wife during his annual Fourth of July party in 2015 — and it was a surprise! His spokeswoman said in a statement to People at the time that the couple “surprised guests at their annual July 4th party by exchanging vows in front of their family and close friends.” The ceremony was held at the musician’s Long Island estate.

Following their special day, the couple’s wedding photos were featured on the cover of People. “I saw my gorgeous wife coming towards me and she was crying,” Johnson said at the time. “I think my heart was exploding a little bit.” Simpson, 45, and Johnson, who share three children, separated in January 2025.

The No Doubt frontwoman and the country singer, who began dating in 2015, tied the knot in a private ceremony in Oklahoma on July 3, 2021. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Stefani, 56, and Shelton, 50, kept their guest list small, as In Touch previously reported, but of course the “Rich Girl” singer’s children — Kingston, 20, Zuma, 17, and Apollo, 12 whom she shares with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale — were in attendance to watch their mom walk down the aisle.
