Taylor Frankie Paul, Miranda McWhorter
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season 2 will feature newcomer Miranda McWhorter, though she is hardly new to the existing stars from season 1. In Touch reveals why Miranda and OG star Taylor Frankie Paul ended their friendship before her debut on the Hulu show’s second season.
Why Did ‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Stars Taylor and Miranda End Their Friendship?
Taylor and Miranda were once best friends, though they made headlines when Taylor revealed that she and her then-husband, Tate Paul, were involved in a “soft swinging” with their friend group. The arrangement – which Miranda was also part of with her now ex-husband, Chase McWhorter – saw the members having consensual interactions with other partners in their friend group, though not all of the actions were sexual.
Taylor and Miranda Discuss Their Falling Out on ‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Season 2
Fans will get more insight into Taylor and Miranda’s falling out during season 2 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
“Miranda, she was a swinger. She was very much involved in the whole situation, but Miranda and Chase, her husband, during the time denied everything and tried to make Taylor look like a villain. And so that’s why I feel like we all have a hard time with Miranda,” Mayci Neeley said in a confessional during episode 2. “I definitely think Miranda sees how well MomTok is doing, and now she’s just coming on back, even though she doesn’t talk to any of us for, like, two and a half years. It doesn’t feel like the intention’s pure.”
Miranda then reflected on the scandal while talking to some of the MomTok members, including Taylor. “I wasn’t ready to own anything. Like, the reason I never even brought up the whole, like, kissing thing and initially, like, wanted to deny that ’cause it’s still freaking weird,” she admitted. “That wasn’t something I wanted to continue doing, right? This is, like, awkward to talk about, like, with the church and, like, family and everything. Like, it still was shameful and uncomfortable to bring up.”
Taylor responded that she felt “very left” by Miranda when their conflict began. “We were like sisters. I feel like you thought maybe I was leading Chase on when I’ve never liked Chase a day in my life and he knows that and that’s why he hates me and is obsessed. But I told him about a dream.”
“I feel like Miranda thinks I led Chase on while they were still married, because I told him that I had, like, a sex dream about him, and honestly, I didn’t think anything of it because of what we were doing. That seemed so mild to me,” Taylor explained in a confessional. “I really didn’t think a dream was a big deal, considering we’re making out with each other and touching each other on the weekends.”
Miranda explained that Taylor’s admission to Chase about the sex dream made it possible that he would feel more comfortable sharing personal information with her.
“After I told Chase about the sex dream, Chase came to me at the gym and told me that he had feelings for me, and basically, that was him, like, trying to open a door,” Taylor recalled, adding that she said the feelings weren’t mutual.
Miranda replied, “It just felt very hurtful that, like, you were telling everyone in our friend group, but you never told me.”

Taylor went on to admit that she was “being a bad friend” at the time and should have immediately told Miranda about her conversation with Chase.
“It was the hardest ’cause it was also, I mean, I was like four months postpartum,” Miranda said through tears. “And then I was also, like … I lost my best friend, dude.”
Taylor said she “completely” understood where she was coming from and admitted to handling the situation wrong.
“We were so inexperienced. There was no bound, there was no discussion. So lines were blurred. The girls have this resentment towards her, and they all stuck by my back, so it’s like almost as I should have that resentment as well,” Taylor explained in a confessional about Miranda’s current spot among the MomTok group. “However, they don’t know the extent of the situation. I think they forget I was also a villain in that story. There will be a conversation between Miranda and I, without everyone, I would love that, just me and her.”
