Sofia’s parents are Motown legend Lionel Richie and ex-wife Diana Alexander Richie, who split in 2004. Her older sister is 36-year-old designer and actress Nicole Richie (who was adopted), and 23-year-old brother Miles Richie. Her godfather was the late Michael Jackson.

What does her dad think of their relationship?

Lionel recently made his feelings on the May-December romance known — and they weren’t positive. He quipped, “Have I been in shock?! I’m the dad, come on. I’m scared to death, are you kidding me?”

Sofia is half-black (via her dad) and half-Jewish (via her mom) — though she realizes she doesn’t present that way. “I’m very light, so some people don’t really know that I’m black,” she said. “I’ve been in situations where people will say something kind of racist and I’ll step in and they’ll be like, ‘Oh, well, you’re light.’”
