Lou is a U.S. congressman who represents California’s 46th District. The Democrat was elected to Congress in 2016 and represents several cities in Orange County, including Anaheim, Santa Ana, Stanton, as well as parts of Orange and Fullerton.

Lou is the son of working-class parents. His mother cleaned hotels near Disneyland, while his father worked at a local paper mill.

He credits his parents’ hard work for giving him access to a better education and a path to success.

A graduate of Anaheim High School, Lou graduated with an economics degree from California State University, Fullerton in 1980. He went on to earn a Juris Doctor (JD) and master’s in business administration (MBA) from UCLA in 1985.

Lou worked as a banker, attorney and licensed real estate agent before deciding to give politics a try. He ran for a seat in the California State Assembly in 1996 but lost the election. Two years later, Lou tried again and came out victorious. He went on to serve as a California state senator from 2006 through 2014.

“Happy Fathers Pops! I love you and appreciate all you’ve done for me,” Adán captioned a Father’s Day photo in June 2024, showing his large family.

Lou took Adán to an event at his alma mater earlier that month. The Netflix star shared a photo posing with his dad and musician Jake Woodruff — who like Adán has autism — as well as others.

“Having a blast at the UCLA Peers Fundraiser!” he wrote in the caption of the June 9, 2024, snapshots, along with the hashtags “autism awareness” and “autism inclusion.”

Lou Correa Is Active With Autism Awareness Causes

As a California state senator, Lou spoke out at a 2013 rally in support of legislation impacting those with autism.

“This is about making sure that our grandchildren, our children, our loved ones live productive lives in our society, and we have proven over and over that that can happen,” he told a crowd in Sacramento, California.

As a U.S. congressman, Lou has participated on panels including one hosted by Autism Speaks in April 2018, sharing his support for initiatives benefiting those with autism.

How Long Has Adan Correa Appeared on ‘Love on the Spectrum’?

Adán briefly appeared on Love on the Spectrum season 1 after meeting cast member Dani Bowman at a speed dating event.

Dani decided to give things a shot with Adán in season 2. Viewers watched as the duo attended Pasadena Comic Con and shared their first kiss. Adán sweetly told Dani, “You’re the first girl I ever kissed, and I consider that a blessing.”

Dani and Adán are no longer together. Their romance hit a snag in season 3, when he wanted to pull back from having any physical intimacy.

“Many of us on the spectrum have had difficult lives,” Adán told Netflix’s Tudum on April 10, 2025. “We have been ridiculed and made fun of, we don’t have many friends, and we have gotten picked on and beaten up. For me, believing in God has been my strength, and my religious beliefs are what help me make sense of the pain that I’ve experienced in my life. My values have been shaped by my life and life experience.”

Adán said was hopeful that he would meet someone new after his failed romance with Dani.

“I have learned that love is magical and beautiful,” he revealed. “I am confident that I will meet other girls that I can date and build a strong and honest relationship with. I do want to find love again. It happened once, it will happen again.”
