Who is Jade Cline? The New ‘Teen Mom 2’ Star Has a Heartbreaking Past

On Monday, June 3, MTV announced a new star, Jade Cline, would be joining the Teen Mom 2 ranks, but she’s actually a familiar face. Back in February 2018, Jade was first introduced to us as a cast member of Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant. Now, more than a year later, the Indiana native is switching shows. She’s not technically a “teen mom.”

Like Teen Mom OG‘s recent addition Cheyenne Floyd, Jade, who’s now 21, wasn’t a teen anymore when she got pregnant. At 20, she found out that she and her then-boyfriend, Sean, were expecting. But that didn’t mean she had things any easier than her new cast mates did back in the day. Though she wasn’t juggling motherhood or pregnancy with high school, she had plenty of other drama to deal with — like all the back and forth with her mom and dad.

She claims her parents are addicts.

In her intro on the show, Jade told audiences that her mom has been “in and out of jail or rehab” for years. While chatting with Kailyn Lowry and Lindsie Chrisley for their Coffee Convos podcast, she opened up even further. “In my new season, actually both of my parents were just incarcerated,” she revealed in a segment that aired as part of the Teen Mom 2 after show. “They’ve been strung out for so long,” she continued. “They’re binge-addicts, where they’ll binge and then they’ll be OK for a little while. … And then it’s like a fairy tale for like a month; I have my mom back. … It’s how it always is.”

She explained that she’s mostly grown up without her mom — and she’s grown up without her biological father entirely. “My real dad committed suicide when I was six months old,” she shared through tears. “I feel like my real dad never loved me enough to stay. And now I feel like even I have a second chance at a father and he never loved me enough to stay clean.”

She’s got a beautiful daughter.

Young and Pregnant fans already know Kloie, but the little girl is seriously adorable. Jade and her ex, Sean Austin, welcomed their daughter on September 18, 2017. Since then, the tiny tot has celebrated two Christmases with her mom, started saying “mom” and “momma,” and even been rocking the eensy, weeniest little ponytails and pigtails. TBH, we can hardly stand it, it’s so cute.

She’s single.

Though Jade and Sean, 25, were on-and-off for a while, she admitted in February 2019 that they’d ended things for good. “People are not what they seem sometimes,” the star shared vaguely when fans asked what had happened. For the most part, though, neither ex has been throwing much shade. Though they both confirmed they weren’t ready to start dating again, the dad shared that he had “no regrets.” Hey, family comes first, right?
