The de la Motte family are a musically talented brood of 13 who will be making their TLC debut in a new one-hour special, Big Family, Big City. In Touch has the premiere date, what fans can expect and more.

Who Are the de la Motte Family?

Amber de la Motte and Marc de la Motte are the proud parents of 11 children, who range in ages from just 6 months old to 22.

“Music is the heartbeat of our home,” Amber — who admitted she would still like to expand their brood with one more child — proudly shared in a teaser clip. “It’s a huge part of our family. It gives the kids purpose, drive, structure,” Marc added while she noted, “And it keeps them out of trouble.”

“Trying to get out of the house is chaos. It’s like herding cats. But that’s normal life,” Marc said about their daily life, to which Amber chimed in, “We don’t know any different.”

The couple first crossed paths more than two decades ago through an evangelical church in San Diego, California.

Marc is a graphic designer while Amber is a full-time mom who edits the family’s Instagram Reels, TikToks, and YouTube videos.

“My goal for anything that I make online is, we’re paying rent, we’re paying for food. The rent’s paid, the heat’s on,” Amber previously shared, per The Cut. “The thought of being able to cover the kids’ music too? That would just be huge. I wouldn’t be buying a Ferrari, I’d be buying violins.”

What Instruments Do The Kids Play?

The children play a number of instruments and are known to perform folk songs, hymns and other arrangements.

Josiah, born in 2002, plays the violin as do sisters Naomi, born 2008, and Chloé, born in 2014, and so does Enoch, born in 2016, as well as Melody, born in 2018.

Pearl, born in 2004, plays viola. Elijah, who joined the family in 2006, plays the cello as does Anna, born 2012. Noah, born in 2010, plays the double bass while the youngest, Moses, born in 2021, will soon learn!

What Will ‘Big Family, Big City’ Be About?

Viewers will get to watch the talented family perform on the streets of the Big Apple.

“Recently relocating from the peaceful suburbs of San Diego to the vibrant streets of Harlem, N.Y., Marc and Amber have quickly discovered that raising 11 kids in the Big Apple is not for the faint of heart,” according to the show description. “As they juggle their growing family, a new lifestyle, and the challenges of busking together on the streets, the de la Mottes are finding that the fast-paced city life is both exhilarating and overwhelming.”

Big Family, Big City is set to premiere on February 25 at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
