On May 7, 2025, Brad announced that he had been diagnosed with stage IV clear cell renal cell carcinoma, a type of kidney cancer that had metastasized to his lungs. The diagnosis came after he began feeling sick and went to the doctor for answers.
“I got some not so good news for you today. I’d been sick a couple of weeks ago and then went to the hospital and got checked out and actually got the diagnosis that I had clear cell renal cell carcinoma and it has metastasized into my lungs. And that it’s stage IV, and that’s not real good,” Brad said in a heartbreaking video he shared via Instagram.
Despite the severity of his condition, Brad had a positive outlook on the situation, citing his strong faith and lack of fear.
He continued “But, you know what? We serve a mighty God, and He can overcome anything. So I have no fear. I really sincerely am not scared of it at all. But it is going to force us to cancel our tour this summer. And we’re sorry for that. And I’d love for you to lift me up in prayer every chance you get, and I think it’s time for me to go listen to ‘It’s Not My Time’ a little bit, right? Thank you guys so much. God loves you. We love you.”

Three Doors Down’s upcoming summer tour was scheduled to begin in Daytona Beach, Florida, on May 15, 2025. The band’s official website was later updated to reflect the tour cancellation.
