Duck Dynasty star Silas Merritt “Si” Robertson has been on the road to recovery after a hunting accident in Arkansas, which led to the reality star being hospitalized. In Touch looks back on the incident and shares the latest on how Si is doing now amid his family’s return to reality TV.

What Happened to Duck Dynasty’s Uncle Si Robertson?

Si landed in the emergency room for three days after taking a fall during a hunting trip while getting out of a boat in January 2025.

“Typical Silas Robertson, he’s in a dang hurry to get out of the boat and into the Polaris, he fell. He fell trying to get out of the boat…it’s steep right there,” Justin Martin said on an episode of the “Duck Call Room” podcast. “He went to take a long step instead of waiting on us,” Justin added.

Si apparently tried to bounce back but they later noticed something was off with his behavior. “He didn’t want anybody to see that he fell. The problem is you’re covered in mud now, like we know you fell,” Justin continued while recounting that day. “We get back to the clubhouse, and breakfast is done and we’re looking up and there’s no Si. He’s just sitting outside in the cold. I immediately thought he had a concussion because it was out of character.”

Justin shared, “He was real quiet, another red flag … no stories.”

Cohost Phillip McMillan said he later got a call from a caretaker informing him that Si was being taken to the hospital because his “oxygen level was really low” and he was experiencing a lot of discomfort.

“I said, ‘What is going on?’ And I figured he would start laughing and talking. [But] no, he said, ‘Man, I’m in a lot of pain.’ He said, ‘I fell duck hunting and I think I broke some ribs.’ He always thinks it’s worse than it is.”

Fortunately, blood work and X-rays showed no signs of a serious injury.

“I could tell you. I think Si got so nervous and so worked up that he kinda started having like [a] mini panic attack,” Phillip reflected.

Fans got to meet the Vietnam War veteran – who is still married to his longtime love Christine Robertson — on Duck Dynasty, which aired for 11 seasons from 2012 to 2017. He also starred on his very own spinoff titled Going Si-Ral from 2016 to 2017.
