What Did Seth Rogen Say About Ryan Gosling at the Golden Globes?

What Did Seth Rogen Say About Ryan Gosling at the 2025 Golden Globes?
During the awards show, Seth and Catherine O’Hara — two Canadian stars, much like Ryan — presented the award for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television. Before introducing the nominees, the pair did a skit about a fictional Canadian version of the Golden Globes called the Golden Antlers. They joked about fake accolades for Catherine’s portrayal of “Mama Morissette” in a nonexistent Alanis Morrissette biopic and Seth’s role as a young version of Ryan in a fake Ryan Gosling movie.
“What about you and your brave, brave Golden Antler win [for] your turn as young Ryan Gosling in Gosling, the Ryan Gosling unauthorized biopic?” Catherine asked the Neighbors star.
“Thank you. It was unauthorized,” Seth replied. “And that Mickey Mouse Club handjob scene was very controversial but we felt very important to depict.”
During the live broadcast, the audio cut out as Seth delivered the Mickey Mouse Club joke and cut back in as he said it was “controversial,” leaving fans to wonder what he was talking about. It’s unclear if it was censored or simply a technical issue. The audio was also reportedly unavailable during the stream on Paramount+, according to The Independent. However, the full audio is there in a clip on the Golden Globes’ official YouTube page.
Though that line was cut out from Seth’s bit, the This Is the End star made other raunchy jokes about doing “a lot of Canadian adult work” before he made it big in the U.S.
“Logriders was great, Sticky Syrup, and, of course, the Mooseknuckles trilogy,” he joked. “Mooseknuckles 2: Knuckles Deep won Canada’s most illustrious adult film award, actually.”
Seth also called out the Golden Globes’ unusual camera work.

“I want to start by saying this whole angled camera thing is very weird,” he said. “It’s inelegant, it’s strange, this whole half of the room can see my bald spot. I would have filled that in.”

In a 2024 interview with Variety, Ryan explained that his time on The All-New Mickey Mouse Club helped him relate to his character, Ken, in Barbie.
“I was a hamster in The Mickey Mouse Club, just to figure it out,” he told the outlet. “And all these ridiculous things. I could relate to Ken and the need to find yourself and distinguish yourself.”

Unfortunately, Ryan was not in attendance at the 2025 Golden Globes, so he did not get to hear Seth’s joke about him live and in person. His 2024 action comedy film with Emily Blunt, The Fall Guy, did not receive any Golden Globe nominations.
