Tiktokers Tyler Bergantino and Gabby Gonzalez Announce Their Breakup for
Tyler Bergantino and Gabby Gonzalez are calling it quits seven months after their meet-cute went viral on TikTok.
“Gabby and I broke up, we had a lot of different beliefs,” Tyler, 31, shared in a video posted on TikTok on Thursday, January 2. “The distance — not only physically but where we were at in our life — I think just ended up being too much, [and] that’s OK.”
Although a “breakup in the public eye is new” due to it “amplifying everything,” he wanted to let their followers know because they’ve “been involved from the very beginning in Miami.”
“You’ve cared for us and supported us,” he continued. “And I know you guys all wanted us to work out, so did I.”
He encouraged his followers that it wasn’t going to be a “toxic social media breakup,” and wouldn’t want anyone to feel like they had to “pick sides.”
“The story we had was amazing [and] the stars aligned. Neither of us could take credit for that … That was one of those God things,” he concluded. “Just because it didn’t work out with her and I, doesn’t mean those random encounters that lead to a spark and lead to love don’t exist.”
Gabby, 21, posted her own statement via her TikTok account to address the breakup, saying he “wasn’t her person.”
“This was a very real relationship. Tyler and I started talking back in May, we knew we liked each other instantly,” she recounted. “Once we filmed it, we didn’t want to post it because we were so scared about whether social was going to ruin it if we did start dating, it ended up being the best decision ever.”

She continued, “You guys were so supportive [and] I’ve never seen so much positivity on social media. I’m very grateful for that. However, this is a very real breakup and we are two human beings that are going to need to heal from this.”
Gabby told her followers that she didn’t plan on filming any more videos on the topic as she wanted to “heal in private.” She added, “I’m very grateful for all the experiences that we’ve had together, but I am excited to just move forward with my own path and wish him nothing but the best.”
Tyler and Gabby went viral in June 2024 after they appeared together in a video where they bonded over their height. The meet-cute video gained over 4 million likes and 30 million views online.
The couple later confirmed to People that they were officially dating and began sharing their relationship journey online, including launching a podcast together. In the initial episodes, they discussed fostering a “deeper connection” beyond the spotlight.
“It’s so cool that [connection] is being shown through our videos because that’s why people are following along,” Gabby said. “That’s why there’s such a huge supportive audience is because people want that.”
Tyler and Gabby shared that they had typically kept their past relationships relatively private, but noted that this one was uniquely different as it started online.
