‘Teen Mom OG’ Star Maci Bookout Is in Mama Bear Mode, Protecting Her Kids From Ryan Edwards

Do not mess with Maci Bookout or her kids! Earlier this week, the Teen Mom OG star filed for an order of protection against her baby daddy Ryan Edwards after he was arrested for violating his probation in relation to heroin-related charges — and the news broke just one day after Ryan's wife Mackenzie Standifer announced that she is pregnant with the couple's first child together. But in the midst of all of the drama, Maci isn't only protecting herself — she's also focused on protecting her kids and she's in full mama bear mode.

"She absolutely guards the kids. Maci will always protect the kids as she should and needs to," a source revealed to Us Weekly. Maci and her husband Taylor McKinney both filed for protective orders against Ryan, and they also listed Maci's nine-year-old son Bentley — whom she shares with Ryan — along with their two children, two-year-old daughter Jayde and one-year-old Maverick. Though it's unclear when the protective orders were filed, they will be reviewed by a judge on Monday, April 2.

But it seems like Maci has had suspicions about Ryan's sobriety and his issues with drugs and the law. Part of her storyline during Season 7 of the hit MTV series included her struggle with trusting Ryan to have visitation again with their son Bentley after he returned from a rehab stint. Maci didn't believe that Ryan was 100 percent clean and sober and he didn't make matters easier after he refused to take a hair follicle drug test. Both topics will be brought up during the upcoming Teen Mom OG reunion special.

"There was a good deal of the discussion at the reunion about her protecting the kids from Ryan," the insider revealed. Maci also expressed that she had "major concerns about Ryan’s sobriety," and the insider explained that, "Ryan needed more inpatient treatment, longer than what he previously got."
