Taylor McKinney Blasts Ryan Edwards’ Dad Larry on the ‘Teen Mom OG’ Reunion: ‘Don’t You Buck Up to Me’

Reaching a boiling point! Maci Bookout McKinney and her husband, Taylor McKinney, face off with her ex Ryan Edwards’ parents, Larry and Jen Edwards, in a dramatic sneak peek for the highly anticipated season 9 Teen Mom OG reunion. 

During their segment, host Dr. Drew Pinsky asked Larry, 60, about the comments he previously made where he blamed Maci, 29, for “limiting” the time her son Bentley spent with his dad Ryan’s side of the family.

“She’s limited some, sure. I don’t know if I’m blaming her for it, but yeah, I think she’s … some of the things that are going on,” Larry said in the clip, which was released on Monday, April 19.

Taylor, 32, defended his wife from Larry’s claims. “Since I’ve been around, I know this woman has bent over backwards to make sure that Bentley kept a relationship with them through everything that Ryan has put us through,” he said.

Dr. Drew, 62, then asked Larry about the comment he made on the show where he said he felt Maci was putting negative thoughts in Bentley’s head about his dad. Larry clarified that he didn’t think Maci was pinning Bentley, 12, against his father but he thought a boy his age could be “manipulated.”

Sensing tension between Larry, Jen, Maci and Taylor, Dr. Drew asked what they could do to repair their relationship. Maci said she didn’t know that Larry and Jen, 55, felt she was manipulating her son until she watched the show. Jen explained that they love their grandson, but they also love Ryan, 33, and want to support him in his addiction recovery. Jen told Maci that if Bentley ever found himself in a similar situation as Ryan did as an adult, she would want to support her son as well.

Maci agreed, but Larry interrupted. “Hold on,” he said, sitting forward in his seat and getting heated. “You said we put him in an unsafe situation. Let me tell you something, never would that ever happen. Ever.”

Jen told her husband to calm down, and that’s when Maci’s husband got involved. “Don’t you buck up to me,” Taylor said before sitting forward as well. Both Maci and Jen tried to calm the men down, but they continued to go back and forth.

“When you’re forcing him, when y’all are showing up to something, and you’re telling him, ‘Go over there and give your dad a hug,’ ‘Go take a picture with your dad,’” Taylor said, pointing his finger at Larry. “Bentley is a child. Stop forcing a relationship on the child.”

A teaser clip that was previously released on April 13 hinted that the fight between Taylor and Larry got even more intense.

“You got something to say. Sit down here and say it,” Taylor said. “You’re a sorry son of a bitch,” he yelled at one point. “Excuse me?!” Jen exclaimed in the following scene as Larry looked on in shock.

Ryan and Maci have been battling it out over visitation of their son, Bentley, because the Edwards family felt she had “convinced” Bentley to stop seeing them amid their disagreements. Although the Edwardses felt like she caused some of the animosity, the Bulletproof author told In Touch exclusively that she “raised Bentley to be an individual” and to “feel however he feels.” 

“Honestly, I have not raised him to give anybody the ability or the power to influence him, not even me. So, there’s that. Really nothing else to say,” Maci said in January.

After filming the reunion special, Larry revealed he and wife Jen were fired from the MTV series. “We, the family, have been let go from the show by the network. It’s unbelievable,” Larry told The Sun on March 24. Ryan’s wife, Mackenzie Edwards (née Standifer) confirmed they were also released from the show later that day. 

Following the shocking news, Mackenzie, 24, spoke out about their major life transition in an Instagram Story video she posted on April 5. “We’ve been having this conversation for a long time, but it’s hard to pull the trigger on something like that,” she told her social media followers. “We got the phone call saying we’re not going to be doing Teen Mom anymore, and we both felt at peace.”

Going forward, Ryan will be focusing on his own endeavors outside of the show and Mackenzie is also starting a new venture.  

“I have been putting together a fitness plan since I started my fitness journey close to a year ago,” the Tennessee native shared. “I had decided that I was going to curate a plan with trainers, and I got a team together and we are finally making that dream a reality, and I’m so excited.”
