‘Sister Wives’ Star Mariah Brown Reveals First Girlfriend Since Coming Out as Gay
Sister Wives star Mariah Brown — the only daughter of Meri and Kody Brown — has found love.
Since coming out as gay in an episode of the TLC reality show, the 21-year-old has gone public with her first relationship with a woman.

Mariah made it “Facebook official” with her new girlfriend Audrey Kriss, whom she praised on Twitter earlier this month for International Women’s Day.
“Shoutout to Audrey Kriss for literally changing my life and showing me that who I am is perfectly okay,” she tweeted.

Mariah’s coming out wasn’t easy for her parents, especially her mother. During the episode, Meri lamented to the cameras, “I did not see it coming…I thought I knew my daughter, I didn’t.”
Her father, however, was more supportive, explaining, “We’re not happy that Mariah is gay — we’re happy that Mariah knows herself.”

While the Brown family are devout Mormon fundamentalists — a religion that does not typically approve of homosexuality — the reality TV fam has gone public explaining that they’re supportive of same-sex marriage.

As Robyn, one of Kody’s other wives explained in 2013, “All adults should be able to choose who they love and how they structure their family.”
After the show aired, Kody expressed nothing but support for his daughter and explained how A Christmas Carol helped him understand the important of acceptance and valuing his daughter for more than just her sexuality.
“I dream of a world where people are judged by the merits of their character, instead of sexual orientation and family structure,” he tweeted. “God has prepared my heart and mind for 15 years. Now [Mariah] can feel safe being openly gay with our family. I grew up in a world with terrible prejudice to the gay community. Charles Dickens’ ‘Christmas Carol’ taught me a modern lesson.”
