The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Layla Taylor opened up about her feelings regarding season 2’s new villain, Demi Engemann, and she even went as far to say that she thought that Demi was “evil.”

“I think, personally, for me, the behaviors that I saw were just so alarming that I couldn’t just kind of turn a blind eye to it,” Layla, 24, said during a Thursday, May 22, appearance on “The Viall Files” podcast. “I try to give a lot of people grace that’s something that I’m very big on I’m very big on forgiving and like giving people second chances, but for me, personally, seeing what she did to Jessi [Ngatikaura] and just kind of honestly how evil it was, I was like, ‘What makes me think that she’s not going to go and try to do this to me?’”

The single mom of one continued, “Then she did things to Taylor [Frankie Paul], as well, and I just felt like it was a pattern that was repeating itself and I didn’t want to be caught on the wrong end of it so I was just like, ‘I’m going to take a step back.’ I’m not going to surround myself with her anymore.”

However, Layla did say that if Demi, 30, ever wanted to “come back around and share her side of the story and make amends,” it would be something that she would be open to.

“I feel like I’m open to that, but every conversation I have had with her unfortunately has ended negative on her end,” the reality star added. “It’s name calling, and it’s just very mean, and I feel like she kind of shows her true colors in those moments and I don’t need to surround myself with people like that that talk down to me and make me feel bad about myself. So, I think ultimately I just don’t really have a space for her.”

Natalie Joy, who cohosts “The Viall Files” with her husband Nick Viall, asked if Layla was referring to Demi’s contract dispute regarding Jessi, if she meant Demi allegedly insulting Jessi’s hair salon, JZ Styles, or if it was based on Demi’s Vanderpump Villa drama with Marciano Brunette. Layla said it was essentially “all of the above.”

During The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season 2, fans learned that Demi had allegedly been open to kicking Jessi, 32, off the show if it meant she would receive more money. However, Layla said that because Jessi had seemingly forgiven Demi then the rest of the stars had no reason to hold a grudge. Later, Taylor, 30, claimed that Demi had told her not to continue going to Jessi’s salon, and Layla admitted that she thought it was “weird.” When the drama surrounding Marciano, 26, and Demi continued to evolve, she felt that “history was repeating itself.”

“I feel like at this point if we were to just keep turning a blind eye, I feel like that would be kind of dumb of us almost,” Layla explained. “I feel like at some point you kind of need to wake up and see the warnings and kind of take a step back.”
