Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Release Date Delayed After Prison Brawl

Sean “P Diddy” Combs‘ release date has been pushed back once again.

According to the records of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the Last Night rapper, 56, won’t be released from prison until February 20, 2028, a month after his last release date.

Just last month, his prison sentence was shortened to January 24. However, a recent altercation seems to have affected his release.

TMZ shared Combs got physical with an inmate a few weeks ago after he was reportedly dissed. Prison staff had to separate the men. The rapper was then placed in solitary confinement.

The change to his release date marks the sixth time it has been moved since a New York jury convicted him of transporting prostitutes across state lines for drug-fueled sex parties. Just two months after the verdict was announced in July 2025, Combs’ legal team began pleading for a short sentence.

In April, federal appeals court judges listened to two hours of arguments from both Combs’ defense team and the one representing the government.

The rapper’s lawyer, Alexandra Shapiro, first claimed U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian‘s sentence “defied the jury’s verdict.” The lawyer explained, “These judicial findings trumped the verdict and led to the highest sentence ever imposed for any remotely similar defendant.”

Representing the government, Assistant U.S. Attorney Christy Slavik argued the prison term given to Combs was below the standard for federal sentencing guidelines.

Circuit Judge William J. Nardini questioned the severity of the case, describing it as an “exceptionally difficult case.”

Combs was arrested in September 2024 and faced federal charges including racketeering, sex trafficking and transporting individuals for prostitution.

A jury cleared him of the more serious racketeering and sex trafficking charges related to his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, and a victim who testified under the pseudonym “Jane” but found him guilty on two counts of transporting people for prostitution.

He was later sentenced to 50 months in prison and fined.
