Rihanna’s boyfriend, A$AP Rocky, is being forced to deal with more legal issues over his alleged 2021 shooting of his friend, only weeks before his criminal trial is set to start, In Touch can exclusively report.

According to court documents obtained by In Touch, State Farm Insurance filed a complaint against A$AP Rocky, 36.

The other defendant listed was Rocky’s former friend, Terell Ephron, aka A$AP Relli, who Rocky stands accused of shooting during an argument in Hollywood in November 2021.

Rocky denied he fired any shots. Rocky’s criminal trial over the alleged shooting starts next month, and he is still facing two civil lawsuits brought by Relli.

In the lawsuit brought by State Farm, the insurance company said Rocky had a homeowner’s policy with them that covered him from April 2021 to April 2022. State Farm said Rocky’s business manager reached out to the insurance company in September 2022.

In the lawsuit, State Farm asked the court to rule it had no duty to payout any money owed by Rocky in the civil lawsuit. Rocky demanded the suit be thrown out.

His lawyer argued, “[State Farm’s] complaint, and each cause of action alleged therein, is barred to the extent that [State Farm] seeks an advisory opinion from the court about hypothetical facts.” Relli was dismissed from the suit. The rest of the case is ongoing.

As In Touch previously reported, Relli claimed he was struck in his hand by bullet fragments.

An investigation was launched by the Los Angeles Police Department, which led to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed two felony counts of assault with a semi-automatic weapon against Rocky. Rocky pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The criminal trial is scheduled for January 21, 2025.

Rocky faces up to 24 years in prison if convicted on all charges, according to CBS News. Relli filed two civil lawsuits against Rocky.

The first lawsuit demanded unspecified damages for the alleged shooting. “As a result of being placed in fear of immediate grievous bodily harm, [Relli] suffered and continues to suffer physical, mental and emotional injuries,” the lawsuit read. Rocky denied all allegations of wrongdoing.

He argued that any damages were the result of third parties outside of his control. Rocky’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, spoke publicly about the lawsuit to TMZ. He accused Relli of attempted extortion. Joe said, “Rocky didn’t commit a crime. It was an extortion attempt by a former associate, who threatened to make false criminal accusations if Rocky didn’t pay him.”

Rocky’s lawyer was adamant he had witnesses to prove a gun wasn’t fired on the night in question. Joe denied that Relli was injured by his client. The statements made by Joe about an alleged extortion attempt led to Relli’s second lawsuit. In the second case, Relli sued Rocky and Joe for defamation.

He claimed that statements made by Joe, which he believed Rocky instructed him to make, led to him being harassed. Joe trashed the defamation lawsuit in a statement to TMZ. “This is actually nothing more than a publicity stunt which is going to backfire badly. I more than welcome this lawsuit especially because the resolution of the criminal case has not happened yet,” Joe said.

Rocky’s lawyer continued, “This opens up this extortionist to depositions under oath now before the resolution of the criminal case. It will expose the fraud he committed and unfortunately for his lawyers, it will cause them to be responsible for legal fees in this case. They don’t know the facts of this case or the actions taken by their client. But, I will be more than happy to educate them.”

Rocky and Joe denied all allegations in the suit. Both cases are ongoing.
