RHOC S Gina Kirschenheiter s Ex Husband Matt Suffered Heart Attack Too Close of a Call 423
Real Housewives of Orange County star Gina Kirschenheiter revealed her ex-husband, Matt Kirschenheiter, suffered a heart attack that left him hospitalized.
“Wow. We had a scary weekend! Matt (the kiddos dad) suffered a heart attack Saturday! He’s only 40 years old!!” Gina, 40, captioned a series of photos on Monday, March 17, showing Matt, 40, in his hospital bed.
The Bravolebrity thanked Matt’s new wife, Britt Kirschenheiter, for her quick action. The duo married in April 2024 after several years of dating and Britt has become a loving stepmom to Matt and Gina’s three kids: 12-year-old son Nicholas, 10-year-old daughter Sienna and 9-year-old son Luca.
“Thank god Britt rushed him to the hospital and all the hospital staff acted quickly!” Gina continued in the caption.

“The kids were very shaken up but thankfully we can be smiling bc he will be OK! He came home today. The kids and Trav and I are so happy to have their dad back,” Gina noted, including a mention of her boyfriend, Travis Mullen.
“This was too close of a call. Really puts things in perspective. We will all be changing our lifestyle and leaning into the healthy bc being there for our kids is the only thing that matters,” Gina explained.
She went on to thank “everyone who has checked in on us” and stressed the importance of having a loving and supportive blended family.
“For anyone out there struggling to coparent, remember you are all a family and what matters most is that you all get to be there for your kids. Tomorrow is not promised, today is a gift,” Gina noted.
Matt and Gina married in 2010 and divorced in 2019. While the pair have a loving coparenting relationship today, the duo had a contentious breakup before finalizing their divorce following their separate arrests.
In August 2024, In Touch obtained the settlement agreement signed by Gina and Matt on August 16, 2019.
Per the deal, the exes agreed to share joint legal custody of their children. At the time, they agreed to keep their kids living in the same home. Gina and Matt would leave the property when the other had custodial time and then return when it was their custodial time. The duo also agreed to participate in therapy to become better coparents.
Prior to the settlement, Gina filed a restraining order against Matt in June 2019, accusing him of domestic violence.

Matt was charged with two felony counts of domestic violence in September 2019. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The financial planner ended up pleading guilty to one count of domestic battery and guilty to one felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence or fraud. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail but he did not have to serve any time behind bars as long as Matt completed a batterer’s program and finished three years of probation.
In February 2019, Gina was arrested for driving under the influence in Orange County, California.
“I made a very bad choice the other night after a mom’s night out,” she said in a statement Bravo’s The Daily Dish following her arrest. “I am extremely disappointed in myself and regret my actions wholeheartedly. I have learned a valuable lesson and hope to show you all that this one incident does not define me.”
Gina pled guilty to one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of alcohol and one misdemeanor count of driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08 percent. She was sentenced to three years informal probation and ordered to complete 20 hours of community service.
With the drama of the past behind them, Matt and Gina spend time together with their respective partners, and the reality queen and Britt have become extremely close.
“Happy Birthday to the mama of my bonus kids who I adore for a million reasons and then some,” Britt captioned a series of photos from Gina’s 40th birthday bash in May 2024. “I am so thankful for our coparenting relationship turned friendship. Have the best year ever.”
