There’s no mistaking that Princess Charlotte got Prince William‘s Windsor genes in the new photo of the young royal released to mark her milestone 10th birthday.

Charlotte smiled brightly in a photo taken on what appeared to be a hiking trip. She wore a brown and gray jacket with green leaf patterns on it, along with a daypack over her shoulders.

The snapshot was released on Friday, May 10, via the Prince and Princess of Wales’ social media pages. Princess Kate Middleton was credited with taking the photo.

Royal fans couldn’t believe how much Charlotte resembled William, 42.

“Happy Birthday Princess Charlotte! Who is clearly her father’s mini-me!!” one person wrote in the comments, while a second user gushed, “Omigoodness her father’s daughter!”

A third fan cheered, “Gorgeous!! She looks exactly like his father!!!” while a fourth user praised Charlotte’s sporty side, writing, “Love the action girl vibe, girls are tough cookies!!”

Kate, 43, has been a passionate advocate of embracing the power of nature and the outdoors for wellness, and her kids have gained their mother’s love for being outside.

When William and Kate celebrated their youngest child, Prince Louis, turning 7 years old on April 22, the couple shared a video of the youngster playing outdoors. He was seen jumping off a log and walking around a wooded area while spring flowers bloomed.

In that post, royal fans couldn’t believe how much Louis resembled Kate.

“He looks the double of Kate when she was young,” one royal fan pointed out, while a second commented, “He looks so much like his beautiful Mama Catherine Princess of Wales. So grown up and TALL now.”

While Charlotte and Louis clearly favor one of their parents when it comes to their looks, their older sibling, Prince George, 11, is a perfect combination of William and Kate.

The Prince of Wales famously confused a photo of him as a child with his own daughter during a visit to Bradford, England, in January 2020.

“Is that Charlotte? Is that me? My goodness! Is that me?” he asked the baker behind an elaborate desert display that showed photos of William and Kate throughout the years. “Cause that looks just like Charlotte. That is incredible.”

Kate agreed, adding, “It looks so much like Charlotte.”

The Wales family is in a much happier place now than they were this time last year.

Kate revealed in March 2024 that she’d been diagnosed with cancer following a major abdominal surgery. The princess stepped back from royal duties while being treated for the disease in addition to caring for her family.

“This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” the princess revealed in a video announcing her diagnosis.

“As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK,” she continued.

Kate revealed in a September 2024 video that she completed her chemotherapy treatment. The video showed tender moments between herself and William, joined by their children, in several outdoor settings. They enjoyed the beach while exploring the woods as the princess narrated in a voice-over about her cancer journey.

“The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown,” she explained.

“The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you,” she added. “This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.”
