It sounds like President Donald Trump may have gotten a little too attached to the gold medal won by the men’s USA hockey team during the 2026 Winter Olympics, according to a recent report.
A source tells Rob Shuter’sNaughty But Nice Substack that the team was instructed to let Trump, 79, hold the gold medal for a photo op. Team member Matthew Tkachuk then draped the hardware around the president’s neck.
“I never thought I’d ever have this on me,” Trump said.
However, the source alleged that the former reality star thought it was a gift.

“He really didn’t want to give it back,” the source explained. “He thought it was a gift.”
A separate source told Naughty But Nice that Trump had no ill intent, adding, “He loves winning — and he loves symbols of winning even more. Seeing that medal around his neck lit him up like a scoreboard.”
“President Trump catered McDONALD’s for Team USA at the White House today, bringing in STACKS of double cheeseburgers,” Nick Sortor captioned a clip shared on X. “All while patriotic songs BLASTED in the background.”
In the footage, the team could be seen chowing down on The Apprentice alum’s favorite meal.
