Model Poppy Delevingne is expecting her first child with her partner, Archie Keswick. Poppy revealed the news on Friday, January 17, and said that “she really is all I’ve ever wanted,” confirming that she was having a little girl.

“Obviously, I would have been fine with either [a boy or a girl] and when I was younger I always thought when I get pregnant, I wouldn’t find out,” Poppy, 38, told Elle UK, “but the second we got told we could find out, we did. I’m so excited. I come from all girls, we’re very girl heavy. Girls are great.”

Poppy, whose sisters are socialite Chloe Delevingne and model/actress Cara Delevingne, discovered the news during London Fashion Week in the fall of 2024. She told the outlet that while she was being fitted for Burberry’s SS25 show, she noticed that her clothes felt a bit tighter. Plus, two weeks earlier, Poppy had noticed something felt different, and she took a test as soon as the show was over.

The London native explained that she spent the holidays with both of her sisters in New York and the trio could hardly contain their excitement about the little one.

“We were all in New York, with each other and with the bump and there was a lot of talking to the bump, stroking the bump. They’re just elated,” Poppy said of Chloe, 39, and Cara, 32.

Despite their excitement, Poppy and Archie, 44, opted to keep the news of her pregnancy mum for the first several weeks.

“I always imagined that if this moment had ever happened to me I would have told people,” Poppy told the outlet. “But it was quite extraordinary, I became very tight lipped about it. I think I just wanted to protect it more than anything.”

She continued, “I think I was really nervous, as well. It just feels like such an extraordinary privilege to be able to do this, to be able to have a baby at this age and at this time, and when it happened, I couldn’t really believe it. It still feels really surreal.”

As the six-month mark of Poppy’s pregnancy arrived, she declared that there was “no hiding this bump anymore.” The fashion model also can’t help but feel like her pregnancy is “an extraordinary privilege.”

“To be able to have a baby at this age and at this time, and when it happened, I couldn’t really believe it,” Poppy gushed to the outlet.

With her bump out in the open, Poppy has decided to fully embrace her maternity era as she spent “the last two months trying to squeeze into everything” and finally decided “it just wasn’t helpful for anyone.”

Poppy did admit that being pregnant at the age of 38 did come with a fair amount of anxiety.

“Internally, there’s been anxiety about having a baby, being the age that I am. I’ve been sort of in a constant state of worry but that is all getting less and less the further along I get. It’s less anxiety and more excitement to meet her,” she explained. “I’ve got to the point where I’m just so excited to meet her. If I shut my eyes, I feel like I know her. She’s already making me laugh, I think she’s going to be a funny one.”
