Offset agreed to a tentative settlement with the landlord who sued the rapper and his estranged wife, Cardi B, over alleged damages to a L.A. mansion, In Touch can exclusively report.

According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Offset, 33, and the landlord company, SD Squared, worked out a deal at a mediation on November 7, 2024.

Offset and the landlord agreed “in principal to a settlement” but “still need to agree on a couple of details before executing the settlement agreement.”

As In Touch previously reported, SD Squared sued Offset, Cardi, 32, and Offset’s company, Sallie Smith LLC, in December 2023. The suit accused the defendants of breach of contract and negligence. In the lawsuit, the landlord claimed Offset’s company signed a lease for a L.A. home.

The lease started in February 2022. SD Squared said Cardi and Offset lived in the home for 20 months and vacated the property in October 2023, without notice. “Defendant failed to pay rent and utilities for a period of time,” the suit read.

In addition, lawyers for the landlord claimed, “After Defendants vacated the home, [the landlord] discovered significant property damage, including permanent stains and scratches to the limestone tile floors, rugs, and curtains; colored paint on the white leather couches and dining room leather brown chairs; burn marks on tables, counters, couches, chairs, and cabinets; broken furniture; broken speakers; and excessive holes and marks on the walls.” In the suit, the landlord claimed the cost of the damages totaled “at least $85,000.”

The landlord’s lawyer said, “Defendants have ignored Plaintiff’s multiple attempts to resolve this matter, leaving Plaintiff no choice but to file this lawsuit.”

Offset and his company, Sallie Smith, denied all allegations of wrongdoing. He claimed portions of the lease agreement were unconscionable and other provisions were “procured under duress and/or fraud.”

Offset’s company, Sallie Smith LLC, filed a countersuit against the landlord. In the countersuit, Offset’s company said it agreed to pay $35,000 a month for Offset and his family members to live in a five-bedroom, six-bathroom, 8,535-square-foot mansion in Beverly Hills, California.

Offset’s company claimed at one point during the lease the landlord demanded the rent increase to $45,000 a month.

The musician’s team asked that the landlord to repair hazardous steps at the home that Offset claimed caused “injury to one” of his relatives. Offset said the landlord refused to fix the issue and told him they could vacate the home if they did not agree to release any claims over the alleged injury.

The suit claimed, “Faced with no alternative but to agree to SD Squared’s demands or be forced to vacate the Property (which would have been extremely difficult for [Offset] and his immediate family members given [Offset] and his then-spouse’s [Cardi B’s] demanding work schedule and the fact they lived at the Property with young children].”

Offset’s company said the musician finally left the home after the landlord demanded the rent be increased to $75,000 a month in June 2023. The company said the landlord failed to provide any evidence to back up the alleged damages.

In addition, it accused the landlord of failing to return Sallie Smith’s $35,000 deposit.

The case will be closed once the parties execute a final settlement agreement.

As In Touch previously reported, Cardi announced last year that she had filed for divorce from Offset.
