What Happened Between Secret Lives of Mormon Wive’s Demi and Vanderpump Villa’s Marciano?

When season 2 of Vanderpump Villa premiered in April 2025, fans watched a fun crossover as Demi and her Secret Lives of Mormon Wives costars Jen Affleck, Jessi Ngatikaura, Layla Taylor and Mikayla Matthews met up with the other Hulu cast.

During the women’s visit, Marciano quickly became smitten with Demi. While they seemingly ended the season on good terms, Demi called out Marciano for sparking rumors that she had been unfaithful to her husband, Bret Engemann.

Meanwhile, Marciano fueled speculation that there was bad blood when he took to his Instagram Stories before the show’s premiere to write, “Uninvited to the function cus a 30yo mormon wife’s scared I will tell her husband the truth.”

After Marciano claimed he was uninvited to the party, Demi took to the comments section of a social media video to claim she had nothing to do with him being excluded from the bash.

Bret, who married Demi in 2021, seemingly clapped back at Marciano by sharing a photo of himself and Demi via his Instagram Stories. “I’m so proud of this beautiful human. She’s the most incredible woman I will ever know. The amount of nonsense she’s had to endure at the hands of disingenuous and deceitful fools is astounding,” he captioned the snapshot. “She’s conducted herself like a graceful lioness amongst a bunch of yipping hyenas.”

Demi Engemann Insists She Didn’t Flirt With Marciano Brunette

Demi insisted that she never crossed the line during her interactions with Marciano while speaking to Us Weekly in May 2025.

“I acted the same way toward him that I did everyone else. So that’s just my personality and I’ll never diminish that for anyone. I’m proud of the way that I conducted myself and for staying true to myself,” she told the outlet. “I am equally as proud for the way that I’ve handled it post-filming as well. [Bret and I though] will always communicate our way through any hurdle.”

Demi went on to explain that there was a specific reason why she wasn’t talking about the drama on social media.

“A lot of the women [on my show] and now Marciano jump on the train of taking things out of context. To me, it’s completely a clout tactic in my mind of trying to ride the clout and ride the wave of the success of the show and confuse people. To me, it’s manipulative and I don’t roll that way,” she noted. “You’ll see that I’ve said very little about anything that happens behind closed doors or behind the scenes or that would give anything away or conflict with the girls.”

Demi Engemann Says Marciano Brunette Drama Didn’t Impact Her Marriage

Demi also said that her and Bret’s relationship is “solid” amid the drama.

“We’re good. I communicate with him and I’m honest to a fault. So every step of the way, I’ve communicated from jumping out of Vanderpump Villa, going back to the hotel and Bret was the first person I called and just laid everything out — the whole experience,” she continued to Us Weekly. “More will come from that. There’s a lot of things behind the scenes, as far as how I was mistreated and how that situation was handled.”

SLOMW’s Layla Taylor Addressed the Rumors With Marciano Brunette

During The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season 2, Layla wanted to get to the bottom of the situation and met up with Marciano. When Marciano asked her what Demi had said about their interaction in Italy, Layla said that Demi told her that Marciano had “started hitting on her” when they arrived at the villa. She added that Demi claimed that he “got more forward” as time went on.

“So, when I put myself out there … I didn’t really know what was going on, because, ‘Oh, we have these, like, Mormon swingers,’” Marciano explained. “I didn’t really know what to think, but this girl, this woman, to me, is really pretty, really gorgeous. Like, I want to try and entertain this. But then, like, everything just started to transpire and everything, like, I think, happened really fast, and I didn’t really understand the boundaries.”

Layla asked if he felt like Demi was “flirting” with him, he replied, “I think it was, like, friendly, funny, flirtatious things that I mistook for not the friendly part.”

Marciano added, “I think I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t at least try and entertain [the idea]. I caught feelings for her, for sure, pretty quickly. I think that because I was already, like, consumed with the fantasy that she was open … If Brett wasn’t around, would things be different? I don’t know. I don’t think so, but you know? Whatever.”
