Miranda McWhorter was one of the original Salt Lake City-based MomTokkers involved in the 2022 “soft swinging scandal” alongside former BFF Taylor Frankie Paul. Although Miranda and her now ex-husband, Chase McWhorter, initially denied any involvement when the story went viral — Miranda made her debut during season 2 of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives to share her side of the story.

What Did Miranda McWhorter Say About the Swinging Scandal?

In May 2025, Miranda made her Hulu debut during the season 2 premiere at an influencer event attended by fellow cast members Demi Engemann, Mayci Neely, Jen Affleck, Layla Taylor, Jessi Ngatikaura and Whitney Leavitt.

“My name is Miranda McWhorter and you might recognize me from being one of the MomTok OGs. Just kidding,” she introduced herself to the cameras. “Obviously people know me from the whole swinging scandal. Taylor’s a very vocal person and everybody has heard her side of the scandal, but I’m finally here to tell mine.”

After Miranda made her grand entrance, the women quickly questioned her about her involvement in the soft-swinging scandal.

“Well the thing is, like, the height of what I was ever involved in was like playing spin the bottle and like kissing other people,” she responded. “So it was very jarring for me for Taylor to come out and say like everyone was hooking up with everyone because that was simply not the case at all. No one had sex ever. Period. I will go to my grave.”

Taylor arrived at the event and was immediately “uncomfortable” to see her former friend. “I haven’t really talked to her since everything, so, I don’t know why she’s here. I’m very confused. She was one of the girls participating in the swinging scandal,” Taylor told viewers. “Her husband was the one that came and told me that he had feelings for me. That’s where the story gets confusing because I stole my best friend’s husband but that’s never been the case. I would have never done that to her, ever.”

The Swinging Scandal Impacted Mormon Wives’ Taylor and Miranda’s Friendship

During episode 2, fans learned more about Taylor and Miranda’s falling out. Taylor explained she felt “very left” by her friend during the scandal and cemented she “never liked Chase a day” in her life.

“Chase came to me at the gym and told me that he had feelings for me, and basically, that was him, like, trying to open a door,” Taylor recalled, adding that she said the feelings weren’t mutual.

For Miranda, it was hurtful that Taylor spoke about the situation with everyone in their friend group but never told her.

“It was the hardest ’cause it was also, I mean, I was like four months postpartum,” Miranda said through tears. “And then I was also, like … I lost my best friend, dude.”

Taylor said she “completely” understood where she was coming from and admitted she should’ve immediately told Miranda about her conversion with Chase.
