Meghan Markle is counting on her new ventures to bring in cash flow and start recouping some of her and hubby Prince Harry’s investments, which a source exclusively tells In Touch means she’ll need to dump even more money into a huge new rollout of her beloved jam, the inaugural product of her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.

“It frustrates Meghan to no end that her jam was ridiculed by so many people, because none of the naysayers ever even tasted it,” the source says. “It’s totally unfair to have all this negativity being spewed about it by people who have literally never tried it, but instead of that making her want to throw in the towel and scrap her plans for this jam, it’s just made her more determined to get it on shelves so that the public can actually try it.” 

After Meghan, 43, announced the release of her company’s first product over the summer, fans poured in to criticize the “cheap” looking label, though the quality of the taste still remains to be seen. 

The source notes that “She’s absolutely convinced that once people taste it they will completely change their opinions because she knows it’s a high quality product. Everyone that has actually tasted it raves about how great it is.”

A second source previously dished to In Touch that Meghan’s friends and confidants feared she is “setting herself up for another embarrassing failure,” with the jam, adding to an already expanding list of sinking attempts to develop a holistic lifestyle brand. Though, essential to any prospective success is her own personal image, which can be juiced with enough investment to really sell the Martha Stewart-like persona she’s going for.

“She does need some more capital to put behind it so she can produce it on a large enough scale and get it on shelves and the word is she’s making that a priority this year,” the source said.

Luckily for the Sussexes, they aren’t exactly hurting for cash, as they have plenty of income streams and large chunks of capital to use to reach their seemingly ultimate goal of transitioning from royals to A-list American celebrities and lifestyle tycoons. 

Even without any kind of royal allowance, the couple likely have plenty of money to throw at their various ventures. To date, Harry, 40, and wife Meghan have scored a $100 million Netflix deal; a $20 million Spotify deal, though they made a “mutual decision” to part with the company leaving the exact details of how that affected their finances murky; an estimated $2 million via their investment in Lemonada media; an inheritance for the prince from his mom, Princess Diana, which was estimated at $10 million plus a nice chunk of change from grandma Queen Elizabeth II after she died, worth about $7 million; a $32 million advanced for Harry’s four-part book series – not including another $22 million in royal royalties from the first one, Spare; a $500,000 advance for Meghan’s book; about $1 million per year from Harry’s company BetterUp and also whatever Meghan brought to the table from her acting days on Suits.
