After weeks in hiding, Matt Lauer’s wife, Annette Rogue, was spotted in NYC leaving a law office — leaving many speculating that she is preparing to formally and officially end her marriage to the disgraced Today show host. According to Page Six, she attempting to “squeeze a bigger settlement out of him” should they decide to move forward with the divorce.
Annette — who is mother to Matt’s three kids Jack, 16, Romy, 14, and Thijs, 11 — has remained unsurprisingly quiet in the wake of the scandal, including news that one of his mistresses — former Today show production assistant Addie Collins Zinone — came forward with details of their affair. At the time, Matt was newly married to Annette.
Since tying the knot in 1998, the two have experienced their fair share of drama, even before Matt’s NBC termination. In 2006, she actually filed for divorce from the former Today show anchor but later called it off. In the legal filing — which resurfaced years after the fact — she alleged that she experienced “cruel and inhumane” treatment at the hands of her husband, who allegedly demonstrated “extreme anger and hostility” toward her.
The paperwork included, “The conduct of defendant [Matt] so endangers the physical and mental well-being of the plaintiff [Annette] so as to render it unsafe and improper for plaintiff to cohabit with defendant. Defendant has continuously and repeatedly given higher priority to … personal interests than his family obligations to plaintiff, causing plaintiff to feel abandoned, isolated, and alone in raising the parties’ children.”
While they later called off the divorce, Matt has never made it a secret that they have had their share of marital problems, while denying the rumors of cheating, which have since been proven to be true. In 2010 he told People, “Have we had a perfect, easy marriage? No. But the stories you’ve read over the years are not true. I don’t think we’re any different than any married couple that’s been together for 12 years. The accusations [of infidelity] are ridiculous and I’m not going to [dignify] them with an answer. It’s not true.” At the time, Annette added, “We have worked through it.”
