It looks like Matt Lauer’s wife Annette Roque is getting ready to leave the disgraced former Today anchor once and for all. Shortly after she was spotted leaving a lawyer’s office, In Touch has exclusively learned that the former model is getting ready to divorce the father of her three kids — and it could cost him millions.
“Annette didn’t pull the trigger [on legal action] right away because of the kids, but she could no longer separate rumor from fact when it came to his sexual misdeeds and abuse of power. She’s done with him,” a source tells In Touch. And now, it’s only a matter of time. An insider adds, “A divorce announcement should be coming any day now.”
And it’s sure to be one of Hollywood’s ugliest — and most expensive — divorces ever; when Matt was terminated by NBC, he was earning $25 million per year thanks to a salary he negotiated in 2012. Additionally, the two have an extensive real estate portfolio — including a $6 million apartment in Manhattan, their primary home (a $35 million Hamptons estate), and a farm where they raise horses — but he has a lot more to lose than just money and homes. The source tells In Touch Annette’s gunning for full custody of the couple’s three kids, Jack, 16, Romy, 14, and Thijs, 11. The source explains, “[She] will ask for primary custody, allowing Matt partial custody because he has been a great father to his kids.”
But after trying to make it work for the three of kids, Annette couldn’t stand to be humiliated any more than she already had been, so she’s officially done trying to make the best out of what has become a humiliating ordeal. Even her father, Henri Roque, all but confirmed that their divorce is imminent. He recently told a reporter, “I have no words for her husband. What he has done is bad. Everybody feels betrayed. She is not going to stay with him and work it out.”
