Kevin Hart revealed his legal battle with his former assistant Miesha Shakes is back on, weeks after he believed they reached a settlement, In Touch can exclusively report.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch, the comedian, 45, said he believed he reached a deal in February, but he was “mistaken.”
His lawyer said the notice of settlement was executed by Kevin’s lawyer “operating under the mistaken impression that the parties had reached a resolution to their dispute regarding [Kevin’s] claims against all defendants, including defendants Miesha Shakes.”
Kevin said he did resolve his claims with the other defendants but was “unable” to resolve his claims with Miesha, “against whom the litigation will not be dismissed but will instead continue.”
As In Touch previously reported, Kevin filed his lawsuit in December 2023 against Miesha and blogger Tasha K.

Kevin’s lawsuit demanded unspecified damages for alleged civil extortion and invasion of privacy. He brought additional claims of breach of contract and defamation against Miesha, who worked for him from 2017 to 2020.
The drama started when Miesha sat down for an interview with Tasha about her time working with Kevin.
Prior to the interview being published online, Kevin alleged an associate of Tasha called his team. The associate allegedly offered to kill the interview in exchange for $250,000.
The comedian said he turned down the offer and called the police to report alleged extortion.
Kevin’s legal team fired off a cease and desist to Tasha that warned her not to publish the interview. The letter explained Miesha had signed a non-disclosure agreement when she ended her employment with him.
The interview was published by Tasha despite the alleged cease and desist. In court, Kevin claimed Miesha revealed personal details of his life, along with falsehoods, that ruined his reputation.
The extortion claims against Miesha were dismissed by the court. Miesha and Tasha both denied all allegations of wrongdoing.

Miesha argued the non-disclosure agreement she signed was not enforceable due to Kevin failing to hold up his end of the deal.
She claimed the deal had Kevin providing her with health insurance for a period of time. “[Kevin] failed to abide by their obligations under that document; therefore, [Kevin] cannot pursue [Miesha] for an alleged breach when it suits [Kevin’s] agenda,” Miesha’s lawyer argued.
The lawyer added, “With regard to the alleged invasion of privacy and defamation claims, [Kevin and his company] also cannot show a reasonable probability of success on the merits.”
“In sum, [Kevin and his company’s] attempt to muzzle Ms. Shakes is consistent with an alarming trend by celebrities who engage in bad behavior and then attempt to crush anyone who dares speak about that celebrity’s behavior,” the lawyer continued.
Miesha previously told the court, “At the time of signing the NDA, I was suffering from significant mental health issues and was under considerable financial distress due to my unemployment. [Kevin] was fully aware of my ongoing health issues and critical need for health insurance and funds, as I could not afford health insurance or my prescribed medications.”
As a result of the recent developments, Miesha and Kevin could potentially face off in court in the near future.
