Katherine Heigl on Her ‘Peaceful’ Life in Utah

In an exclusive interview with In Touch magazine, Katherine Heigl opens up about leaving the glitz and glamour of Hollywood in 2010 with her husband, Josh Kelley, and their daughter Naleigh for a rustic ranch in Utah.

“We had dreams of expanding our family, moving to the mountains and having a quieter life,” the actress, who adopted the couple’s second daughter, Adalaide in 2012, admits.

“We live in a small ranching town 7,000 feet up in the mountains,” she adds. “It’s so peaceful.”

But that doesn't mean she is giving up on her career. Heigl — filming the upcoming CBS show Doubt — saying the change of scenery allows her to work and enjoy family life. “Now, when I’m working, I can say, “Guys, sorry, I can’t take a meeting every day, five days a week — I’m in Utah.”

Heigl credits motherhood for changing her perspective on life. “Before them, it was all about my goals as an actor. They helped me take a step back and go, OK, I have some important work to do on this earth.”
