Kate Middleton Reveals She Is in 'Remission' From Cancer 10 Months After Sharing Diagnosis
Princess Kate Middleton has revealed that she’s in “remission” from cancer just ten months after she announced her diagnosis.
Just hours after Kate, 43, visited staff and cancer patients at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, where she was treated during her own cancer battle, on Tuesday, January 14, she shared her latest health update in a social media post.
“I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year,” she shared via X. “My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside [husband Prince William] and me as we have navigated everything.”
Kate continued, “We couldn’t have asked for more. The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional.”
She went on to reflect on her and William, 42, becoming patrons of the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. “By supporting groundbreaking research and clinical excellence, as well as promoting patient and family wellbeing, we might save many more lives, and transform the experience of all those impacted by cancer,” Kate said.
“It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery,” she added. “As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.”
Kate first revealed she had been diagnosed with cancer in March 2024. “My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in early stages of that treatment,” she said in a video posted via X at the time. “It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to [the kids] in a way that is appropriate for them and to reassure them that I’m going to be OK.”
Six months later, Kate shared a positive update when she revealed that she had completed chemo in September 2024. “As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,” she said in a video in which she appeared alongside William, 42, and their kids Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

“The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family,” Kate continued. “Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown. The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you.”
In addition to revealing that she was in remission, Kate opened up about the side effects of chemo while visiting Royal Marsden Hospital.
“You think treatment’s finished, crack on with that … daily tasks, but that’s still like a real challenge,” she told staff during the visit, according to the Daily Mail. “And talking … the words totally disappear … understanding that as a patient, yes there are side effects around treatment, but actually there are more long-term side effects.”
