Kanye West complained about “negative media coverage” about himself in court, but his ex-employee told a judge the musician is the “source of his own demise.”

According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Ye’s ex-employee Tony Saxon demanded the rapper’s request to postpone the February 24 trial date be denied.

Tony filed his lawsuit accusing Ye, 47, of discrimination and retaliation in September 2023.

The musician’s former lawyer, Brian Brumfield, dropped out of the case in July 2024. He claimed Ye refused to speak to him and owed money for work done.

Ye recently obtained a new lawyer named Eduardo Martorell, who has agreed to represent him in Tony’s lawsuit. However, Eduardo told the court he needed additional time to catch up on the case.

Another lawyer who claimed to work with Ye, Manoj Shah, told the court that after the musician parted ways with his former lawyer, Ye “faced extreme hardship and difficulty retaining litigation counsel, due to exceedingly negative media coverage of Defendants.”

In the motion, Ye claimed he interviewed 8-10 national, regional and local defense litigation firms but was unable to lock one down until he found Eduardo.

In court documents obtained by In Touch, Tony scoffed at Ye’s plea to push the trial date to later this year.

Tony argued, “Applicant here, attorney Manoj Shah, is neither Ye’s attorney nor a party to this action. Defendant himself did not submit a declaration that Mr. Shah can speak on his behalf, even on a limited basis.”

“Ye is the reason for his negative media coverage,” Tony argued.

He said, “Mr. Shah does not give any substance as to what media coverage is leading to the purported inability of Defendant to obtain counsel in this case. Defendant has parted ways with three prior counsel of record before Mr. Shah ‘specially’ appeared. [Tony] and the Court are left guessing what supposed media coverage is connected with what supposed fruitless attempts to find to counsel.”

Tony said, “Ye is the source of his own demise in this regard.” He pointed to antisemitic remarks that Ye made in October 2022, which led to problems with his partnership with Adidas.

Tony then brought up Ye’s recent rants on X over the weekend. “Coincidentally, today, February 7, 2025, Defendant decided to post his thoughts about [Diddy], Jewish people, Hitler, Nazis, Swastikas, homosexuals and people with disabilities to millions of people on X,” his motion read.

The ex-employee submitted screenshots of several of Ye’s tweets from the weekend, specifically ones where he praised Hitler and used homophobic slurs. Tony argued, “Defendant asking any relief based on the above referenced attempt to make a mockery of the legal system. Based thereon, Defendant’s trouble finding counsel to step in to this action, a self- inflicted trouble, should not (and cannot) be grounds for good cause to continue trial or trial related dates.” At a hearing this week, the judge sided with Ye and agreed to push the trial date to March.

As In Touch previously reported, Tony claimed he worked for Ye from September 2021 to November 2021. He said he was hired to work as a 24/7 security guard for Ye’s former home in Malibu, California.

In the suit, Tony claimed he was forced to sleep on the floor because no beds were provided.

He said he was promised $20,000 a week for his work. Tony claimed it all ended when he refused to comply with Ye’s request on a construction project. Ye denied all allegations of wrongdoing.

His former lawyer argued, “Without admitting that any damages were suffered by [Tony], if damages were suffered by [Tony] as alleged in the complaint, those damages were proximately caused by and contributed to by persons and entities other than [Ye]. The liability of [Ye] and any responsible parties, named or unnamed, should be apportioned according to the relative degrees of fault, and the liability of [Ye] should be reduced accordingly.”

As In Touch first reported, Ye’s wife, Bianca Censori, was recently listed as a potential witness at the trial in the case.

Ye’s X account was deactivated on Monday. In addition, the website for his clothing line is offline as of Tuesday, February 11.
