Former 19 Kids and Counting star Josh Duggar has hired a new attorney amid his bid to overturn his child pornography conviction.
Court records show that Duggar, 38, has hired Beau Brindley, who has famously served as a defense attorney for R. Kelly, The Ashley’s Reality Roundup reported.
Brindley filed a Pro Hac Vice appearance on Tuesday, March 3, notifying the court that he has been retained by Duggar for his upcoming hearing, originally scheduled for Wednesday, March 4.
According to the report, Brindley asked the court to delay Duggar’s hearing so he has “additional time to review the case materials and familiarize himself with the issues,” according to The Ashley. The request appears to have been granted, and the hearing was continued.
Duggar, a father of seven, was sentenced to 12 years in prison without the possibility of parole after being convicted in 2021 of receiving and possessing material depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
He has repeatedly made attempts to overturn the conviction. In May 2025, Duggar reportedly filed a motion with the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Arkansas asking a judge to appoint him an attorney, claiming he could no longer afford private counsel, per The Ashley. His request was denied the following month.
Last July, the convicted sex offender also filed a motion for a new trial but reportedly failed to meet the statutory time limit.

Duggar is currently incarcerated at FCI Seagoville in Texas. His release date is scheduled for December 23, 2032, according to online records viewed by In Touch Weekly.
The legal development comes just weeks after his wife, Anna Duggar, resurfaced on social media to promote her new dog breeding business. She has largely stayed out of the public eye since her husband’s arrest.
