During the Wednesday, June 10, episode of The Jinger & Jeremy Podcast, the 19 Kids and Counting alum, 32, and her husband, 38, discussed whether or not they had nerves ahead of their wedding, which was held nearly a decade ago on November 5, 2016.
“I was not nervous marrying you,” Jeremy told his wife, the sixth child of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar. “I was very nervous to get married.”
The couple, who met in 2015, also discussed how being “real” and “honest” in their relationship gave them a sense of peace.
“Like, let’s be real,” Jeremy said. “Let’s be honest.”
“I do think that probably when we got married, there was some of that in me,” she admitted.
“I think I had a lot of that still in me, where I was trying to perform, have everything together,” she continued, to which Jeremy said: “But that came out after marriage.”
“A lot of that did,” she replied. “Looking at that, I’m amazed that you even married me because I think it was really God that allowed you to marry me and helped me to see that I don’t have to be like that, you know?”
“I don’t have to perform,” she continued. “I think my heart was genuine in wanting to do what was right, but I also had that other side of it where it was like trying to make everybody happy all the time by trying to have a perfect facade on.”
“The further into life I go,” Jinger said, “I want to be more real in that way and not feel like I have to put on a front, you know. Be yourself. Share when you’re having a hard day.”
“Life is not always easy,” she added. “And I think that’s part of where it’s been awesome to do life with you.”
Jinger and Jeremy share three children: daughters Felicity and Evangeline, and son Finnegan.
