Exes Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Are All Smiles On Red Carpet for Their Movie ‘Kiss of the Spider Woman’
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck reunited on the red carpet, showing the world they still share a warm friendship.
Nine months after finalizing their split, the former couple attended the New York City premiere of Kiss of the Spider Woman on October 6.
Lopez, 56, turned heads in a green, off-the-shoulder floral gown by Harris Reed, complete with a dramatic spider-like structure extending from her waist. Affleck, 53, kept it classic in a navy suit and tieless white button-down.
Photos captured the pair smiling and embracing, with Affleck wrapping his arm around Lopez’s waist while she rested her hand on his back. Footage shows them chatting closely and exchanging warm smiles.
Inside the theater, Affleck, an executive producer on the film, praised Lopez’s performance. “This movie is exquisite,” he said. “Jennifer, you’re incredible.”
Earlier in the day, Lopez gifted Affleck flowers for his work on the project. “If it wasn’t for Ben, the movie wouldn’t have gotten made,” she told Craig Melvin on Today. “And I will always give him that credit.”
Lopez also reflected on filming while navigating her divorce. “Things happen, you have to keep going,” she said. The project helped her through a difficult period. “It’s funny, the movie is about escapism. It’s about how movies and art save us in the hardest times of our lives,” she explained.
Affleck shared why he chose to produce the movie. “[Matt Damon] and I started this company and part of that was to finance movies,” he told Extra. “We really care about artists taking risks and want to bet on great artists… give people the opportunity to show the world how magnificent they are.”
He also praised Lopez’s dedication to her craft. “She worked enormously hard,” he said. “You get to see all of her many gifts. She’s somebody that grew up watching classic musicals… and she brought all that energy and talent to this role.”
Affleck also gushed about how “amazing” Lopez is in the film, noting that he is “as proud of this movie as any that I’ve ever been involved with. I’m really excited to be here tonight.”
The Oscar winner praised his ex-wife’s work ethic, saying she gave “her all” to the role. “She worked enormously hard,” he said. “You get to see, like, all of her many gifts, she’s somebody that grew up watching, you know, classic musicals.”
