Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux Confirm Separation After Two Years of Marriage

Another one of our favorite celebrity couples bites the dust… but we can't pretend we didn't see this one coming. Sources told Life & Style that Jennifer Aniston reached her breaking point in her marriage recently, and had reunited with Brad Pitt following his split from Angelina Jolie. On Feb. 15, she confirmed the separation from husband of two years, Justin Theroux!

The couple told AP that their split "was mutual and loving." “Normally we would do this privately, but given that the gossip industry cannot resist an opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to convey the truth directly,” says the statement from Jen's publicist Stephen Huvane. “Above all, we are determined to maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another.”

The pair insists that they're just "two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship." However, a source says that the relationship has become very strained with Justin living in New York and Jen in Los Angeles. "Jen saw the signs coming," explained a friend of hers. "They were apart for a solid month before her birthday [on Feb. 11] and it was pretty much radio silence between them." When Justin warned Jen that he probably couldn't see her on her birthday, her “heart sank and she cried. When they hung up, she felt like he’d already checked out of their relationship." Though he did end up visiting, it felt "obligatory, and he’s just been doing through the motions. The marriage is all but over."

Just four days after her birthday, they announced the separation publicly. The couple began dating in 2011, and moved in together in 2012 before getting engaged. They finally tied the knot in August 2015, and two years later the relationship began to crumble. Luckily, Jen has had ex-husband Brad to lean on. “Brad and Jen have bonded like never before over the past year,” said a source. “And they’ve been helping each other through their respective troubles.” We can only imagine how the relationship will flourish now that Jen is single again!
