Jay & Pamela star Jay Manuel broke down in tears as he reflected on his future with Pamela Chavez, as the couple continues to face the challenges of living with osteogenesis imperfecta type 3.

“I don’t think about dying a lot,” Jay, 28, began in a confessional interview alongside Pamela, 30, in a teaser for the Tuesday, April 21 episode.

“But sometimes you don’t know what the future is going to hold,” the Georgia native said through tears. “No matter what happens in our lives, at least I got to meet someone I really love, you know? I’m just really grateful for that.”

Jay and Pamela introduced their relationship to viewers during season 1 of their TLC series, Jay & Pamela, which premiered on the network on March 4.

The show follows the couple, who met online in 2019, as they document their daily life living with osteogenesis imperfecta Type 3 — a brittle bone disease that causes frequent fractures and chronic pain, both of which they were diagnosed with at a young age. Together, Pamela and Jay have endured over 400 broken bones, yet they remain determined to live life to the fullest.

Throughout the series, fans are invited into Jay and Pamela’s home, gaining insight into how they use adaptive devices, such as mobilized wheelchairs with elevating seats, which allow them to reach items and live more independently.

Pamela eventually moved from Missouri to Georgia to live with Jay, and the couple settled into the finished basement of Jay’s parents’ home. In November 2022, Jay proposed and Pamela shared the joyful news with her followers on Instagram.

“I said yes to us, to his family (ours) & to forever,” she wrote alongside a carousel of photos. “I look forward to our future & the day we say ‘I Do.’ I went from ‘I’m never getting married’ to ‘I can’t wait to be married.’ Thank you cariño for making this special & beyond [what] I could have imagined. Thank you to his family who is my family for being part of it. Thank you to all our loved ones for congratulating us.”

As for their future, Jay and Pamela opened up about the possibility of kids in March 2025 interview with Parade.

“It’s conversations that we’ve had about it and I think again, it’s taking it one day at a time … We’re taking it step by step even though we don’t take any steps,” Jay joked. “But we’re talking it step by step with everything and defining that family unit for us … It’s definitely something that we’ve talked about and discussed.”

Meanwhile, the Missouri native further hinted that babies could possibly be in their future.

“It’s not off the table at all,” Pamela interjected. “It’s an ongoing conversation, and I mean just in general, I mean, parenthood is already a huge responsibility in general … So yeah, I don’t know, there’s a lot of things that I said I would never do and then like, here I am.”
