Janelle Brown Inherits Special Item After Son Garrison s Death

Sister Wives star Janelle Brown revealed she inherited a special item from son Robert Garrison Brown following his death from suicide in March 2024, which she just put to good use.

“After spending a few days with the kids in Vegas I drove this old truck across the country. This is the truck Garrison bought when he came to live in Flagstaff,” Janelle, 55, began in the caption of an Instagram post on Monday, February 3.

The accompanying video showed the dual cab pickup truck with a matching shell on the back. She took possession of it from son Gabriel Brown after visiting him in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“He drove it until February of 2022 and then it became Gabe’s. Gabe is now driving a smaller car that makes more sense in Vegas,” Janelle continued. “Enter the question of what to do with the truck. It’s paid off, and it has more value to me on our new farm than I could get in a trade in. Plus it makes me feel connected to my two boys, especially Garrison.”

Garrison was found dead in his Flagstaff, Arizona, home on March 5, 2024, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was 25 years old. Garrison was one of six children Janelle shared with former husband Kody Brown.

Janelle included other shots from her road trip home to North Carolina in the truck, which was set to Willie Nelson‘s “On the Road Again.” She included several of her meals, including a slice of pizza and biscuits and gravy. The reality star showed how a cup of Starbucks helped keep her awake, while also including a shot of convenience store Buc-ee’s beaver statue outside of its Amarillo, Texas, location.

Some fans could relate to the sentimentality of Janelle wanting to keep Garrison’s truck.

“Oh Janelle, this post hits my heart. I still drive my dad’s 2002 Ford Ranger. I never got to say goodbye to him either, I always feel like he’s with me,” one person commented, while another wrote, “As someone who has also lost loved ones, I too have kept vehicles. It’s a connection you can’t really explain to those that don’t understand. I get it.”

Janelle hopes to put the truck to good use on the 156 acres of land she purchased in North Carolina, where the TLC star plans to launch her passion project, Taeda Farm, alongside daughter Maddie Brush (née Brown) and her husband, Caleb Brush.

The flower farm is still in the building and planting process. On Taeda Farm’s website, Janelle is listed as their “resident dreamer, planner, and future flower whisperer.” It noted that while “not a single bloom has sprouted yet, she’s already picking flowers in her mind and making friends with anyone who’ll listen to her vision.” Janelle is in the process of “mapping out our flower fields and making sure every petal has a fellow friend close by.”

Janelle kept her move to North Carolina a secret from Kody, 56, which he revealed in the Sunday, February 2, episode of Sister Wives.

“I don’t know how to explain this. It was never intended for me to know that Janelle was moving,” the TLC star, 56, said. “One of my children, at their admission, slipped up and told me.”

“I didn’t tell Kody,” Janelle, who separated from Kody in December 2022, said in a confessional. “I didn’t see any reason to tell him. Our lives are not overlapping in any way. It just didn’t really feel like it was any of his business what I was doing.”

Janelle previously revealed how Garrison’s death slightly changed her dynamic with Kody.

“Kody and I will periodically check on each other, and he’s kind of grieving in his own way, but I live a very separate life from him, and I do wish everybody well,” Janelle told People in an interview published on September 12, 2024. “I think that maybe it puts perspective, maybe it does, maybe you’re not quite so angry or so whatever.”

If you or someone you know is in emotional distress or considering suicide, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
