‘iCarly’ and ‘Goldbergs’ Actor Jackson Odell Found Dead at 20 Years Old

So sad. Actor and musician Jackson Odell has been found dead at 20 years old. He is best known for his roles on Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, and ABC sitcoms, and he was found "unresponsive" in his sober living home in Tarzana, CA.

"The Odell family has lost our beloved son and brother, Jackson Odell," Jackson's family said in a statement published to his website. "He will always be a shining light and a brilliant, loving, and talented soul. He had so much more to share."

The statement continued, "Our family will always carry that truth forward. Our wish is that the rest of the world does as well. We are now going to try to make sense of our immeasurable loss privately."

The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office confirmed the death, revealing no foul play was suspected, according to Variety. An autopsy is currently pending. Keep reading to find out more about Jackson Odell's life and career.

Jackson Odell's big break was on iCarly.

The Colorado native appeared in a few small-time movies and roles before landing his big break on iCarly, the Nickelodeon show helmed by Jeanette McCurdy and Miranda Cosgrove. Jackson played Gumbo in the episode "iBattle Chip" on Season 6. Jackson's iCarly appearance paved the way for other acting gigs.

He went on to star in multiple TV shows.

In 2013, Jackson booked an appearance on an episode of Disney Channel's Jessie, starring Debby Ryan. He played Gale in the episode "Punched Dumped Love."

In 2014, Jackson appeared as Kyle on the FreeForm series The Fosters, starring Maia Mitchell. In between filming for the Disney Channel and FreeForm, Jackson played Ted Durkas on Modern Family and filmed an episode of Arrested Development. His last major acting credit was starring on The Goldbergs, portraying Ari Caldwell, from 2013 to 2015.

In 2018, he focused on his music career.

After The Goldbergs ended, Jackson focused most of his attention to his burgeoning music career. Jackson often shared both covers and original songs with his followers on his YouTube page. In the past, he had covered Rihanna, Alabama Shakes, and Bill Withers. According to his Twitter, he expressed he idolized the musical talents like Jack White, Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and Chester Bennington.

In January 2018, during one of his final red carpet apperances, Jackson revealed how important music was to him. "Writing from a place of truth is a really big deal for me — whether it's about relationships, or whether it's about redemption or catharsis or whatever it is it’s not really about the subject, as it is about the progress and the experience, and the process that someone goes through without love," he told Page Six. "I draw inspiration from truth wherever that may lie."
