Is Rory McIlroy Married Relationship Status
Rory McIlroy made history in April 2025 by winning his first Masters title, becoming only the sixth golfer ever to complete the career Grand Slam — achieving victories at the Masters, US Open, Open Championship, and PGA Championship at least once in his career. Following his historic win, the professional golfer was spotted celebrating with a special woman, sparking speculation among fans about whether he’s a married man.
Is Professional Golfer Rory McIlroy Married?
Rory has been married to his wife, Erica Stoll, since 2017. Their relationship began as a friendship, remaining platonic for years before eventually turning romantic in 2014.
“I am very happy in my love life. We haven’t really been putting it out there. She is from America, which is why I like to spend time in Palm Beach,” Rory gushed about his future wife to the Times of London in May 2015, half a year into their relationship. “The past six or seven months have been really nice. That part of my life is going great.”
Does Rory McIlroy Have Children?
The pair keeps their relationship notoriously private and didn’t reveal Erica’s 2020 pregnancy until she was in her third trimester. The golfer was competing during the BMW Championship tournament and joked that their baby girl could come “any day now.”
“We’re about to be parents very soon, so we’re obviously super excited. Yeah, we’ve been sharing the news with friends and family, obviously, but I didn’t think it was something that I really particularly needed to share out here,” Rory explained during a post-round interview, according to Golfweek. “It’s a private matter, but we’re really excited and can’t wait for her to get here.

The pair welcomed daughter Poppy Kennedy McIlroy on August 31, 2020, in Jupiter, Florida.
Rory Previously Filed for Divorce from Erica Stoll in May 2024
Fans were unclear about their relationship status as In Touch confirmed in May 2024 that the professional athlete had filed for divorce from Erica after seven years of marriage. The reason for the split was not immediately clear.
Fortunately, their split was short lived as less than a month after filing, he requested to dismiss the legal filing and confirmed that he and Erica had reconciled.
“There have been rumors about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate,” Rory said in a statement to The Guardian on June 11, 2024. “Responding to each rumor is a fool’s game. Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning.”
Sources exclusively told In Touch in August 2024 that Rory and Erica had “some problems that needed resolving,” leading to the divorce filing.
“It took a lot of patience and understanding, but they’re in a much better place now. Spending time together as a family has been beneficial, too,” the insider explained. “They got off track but realized that divorce wasn’t the answer. They’re working hard at their relationship and look at this as the start of a new chapter. Neither Rory nor Erica want to let things get that bad again.”
