“You can’t be with me and not be public,” Romi Imbelli told James Haven, her best friend of more than two decades, in a video interview with him posted on her YouTube channel in August 2024, the same month the pair exchanged vows in front of his father, Jon Voight. “The details of our story are too personal and complicated to share now,” she said in an Instagram post about her new husband, “but I am writing it all in my book.”

She’s already shared a lot. In multiple posts and videos, the 43-year-old makeup artist and identity coach – who also starred on the reality show The Real L Word from 2010 to 2012 – name-drops James’ A-list family often. She’s referenced his infamous kiss with Angelina Jolie at the 2000 Golden Globes and Angie’s absence from her wedding, divulged his late mom, Marcheline Bertrand’s nickname for her (Tinkerbell) and frequently tags his Oscar-winning dad on social media.

“That’s already a bad sign, but saying she will reveal more in a tell-all is setting off alarms,” a source exclusively tells In Touch. “Romi has been close to the family for more than 20 years, so there are a lot of dark secrets she could spill.”

She’s even gotten James to open up. In the YouTube interview, he talks about feeling neglected and value-less because of the spotlight on his father and sister, and notes that, in his experience, even people who are incredibly successful in Hollywood constantly seek out validation and approval “like a fix.” Ostensibly as part of his work as a trauma therapist, James, 51, added that he will be making his life a lot more public going forward. “The truth is I’m a natural extrovert,” he declared. “I’m actually looking forward to this.”

Angelina is the opposite. “She’s incredibly private — so few people are allowed in her inner circle,” the source tells In Touch, noting that the actress, 49, closed ranks even more after her nasty split from Brad Pitt in 2016.

“She doesn’t have many friends, so James is one of the few people who were privy to their world. There were long stretches of time where James was very close with her children,” the source explains. “He would travel with them all, and Angelina valued having her big brother by her side. He was never particularly close with Brad, but spent so much time with all of them and certainly saw everything that was going on behind the scenes.”

And now Angelina is “on edge” about what he may have told his wife, says the source. “Angie cut off Jon after he spoke to the press about her and her children, which proves how seriously she protects her privacy, even with family,” says the source. “Of course she wants her brother to be happy — but this could turn into her worst nightmare.”
