Idaho college quadruple murder suspect Bryan Kohberger’s phone searches, saved photos and a bizarre selfie taken by the criminology student were revealed in a report by NBC News’ Dateline ahead of his trial set to begin in August 2025. In Touch breaks down the latest case developments months after a judge entered pleas of not guilty on Kohberger’s behalf during a court hearing.

Photos of Female Students at Washington State and University of Idaho Were Found

Kohberger’s cellphone browsing history shows dozens of pictures of young women at Washington State and the University of Idaho, many of whom were wearing bathing suits.

Some of the young women were followers or seemingly had close relationships with three of the murdered students: Xana Kernodle, 20; Kaylee Goncalves, 21, and Madison Mogen, 21.

Ethan Chapin, 20, was also brutally slain while sleeping next to his girlfriend, Kernodle, inside the off-campus house located on 1122 King Road during the early hours of November 13, 2022.

Bryan Kohberger Attended a Pool Party in Moscow

Kohberger was invited to an afternoon pool party on July 9, 2022, in Moscow, the same city in which the housemates were fatally stabbed, three witnesses claimed in the bombshell report.

Kohberger’s data, which was analyzed by an FBI cellphone expert, indicated that he was in Moscow again that same day but after dark. The expert said the data suggested that he made a dozen trips to Moscow over the next few weeks and his data connected with a cell tower providing coverage to within 100 meters of that off-campus house address.

Shocking Phone Searches Were Revealed in Dateline’s Report

His phone included an internet search for “Sociopathic Traits in College Student” in September 2022, and the next month, pornography was looked up containing keywords “drugged” and “sleeping.”

Five days after he was pulled over by cops for allegedly running a red light on October 14, 2022, his phone data revealed a search that read, “Can Psychopaths behave prosocially?”

A Bizarre New Selfie Taken by Bryan Kohberger Was Uncovered

Search history on Kohberger’s phone in late 2022 included videos of Ted Bundy, Britney Spears’ song “Criminal” and one bizarre selfie captured on December 28, 2022, showing him gazing into the camera while wearing a black hoodie — similar to how Bundy was dressed in a YouTube video that was searched on his device.

Bryan Kohberger Is Charged With 4 Counts of 1st-Degree Murder and Burglary

A motive in the crime remains unclear. Kohberger was allegedly out driving around and stargazing on the night of the quadruple murders.

When asked for his plea to the counts in 2023, Kohberger remained silent and the judge then entered not guilty pleas for him.

“Mr. Kohberger has a right to present a full and complete defense for the crimes of which he is accused,” his attorneys claimed in March 2025 court docs viewed by In Touch. “This case is full of alternative perpetrators. The state has chosen to focus on Mr. Kohberger, at its own peril.”

Kohberger was linked to the crime scene through male DNA discovered on a knife sheath left at the students’ house.

Prosecutors said they also tracked Kohberger in the area through his cellphone use and surveillance that picked up his Hyundai Elantra, a car that was believed to have sped away from the scene that fateful night.

Kohberger remains in custody ahead of the trial set to begin on August 11, 2025.
