MTV reality star Kirk Medas, best known for his time on Floribama Shore, has died at the age of 33. His sudden death in May 2025 stunned fans and fellow cast members, and many took to social media to share their heartbreak. As questions swirl, people are asking the same thing: how did Kirk from Floribama Shore die?

How Did Kirk From ‘Floribama Shore’ Die?

Kirk died from complications related to necrotizing pancreatitis, a rare and life-threatening condition. The Floribama Shore alum was hospitalized in Miami in mid-April after experiencing severe abdominal pain, according to a report published by TMZ. The inflammation quickly progressed, leading to liver failure. He was placed on a ventilator and remained in the ICU until his death on May 2, 2025.

Kirk’s close friends and family launched a GoFundMe to help cover medical expenses. The campaign explained that the reality star was “sedated and this could take some time to heal. We are praying that he has a full recovery but this process could take some time. The donation will help for medical bills and rehab. He has no medical insurance so your donations will be greatly appreciated. Please continue to uplift Kirk in your prayers.”

At the time of publication, over $35,000 had been raised to help with medical bills, and the campaign has since been updated to support his funeral arrangements.

What Is Necrotizing Pancreatitis?

The illness that led to Kirk’s death is considered one of the most serious complications of acute pancreatitis. Necrotizing pancreatitis causes parts of the pancreas to die, which can result in infection, sepsis or organ failure. In Kirk’s case, the damage extended to his liver, which ultimately failed.

Though rare, this condition can be fatal without immediate and intensive medical intervention. Kirk’s hospitalization lasted nearly two weeks, and despite life-saving efforts, he was unable to recover.

Tributes From the ‘Floribama Shore’ Cast

Kirk’s former castmates were among the first to pay tribute to the late star. Aimee Hall, Nilsa Prowant and Codi Butts all posted heartfelt messages online, calling Kirk the “glue” that held their friend group together.

“Today we lost a brother, a best friend and heaven gained the most beautiful angel. We are all trying to process this unimaginable loss,” Aimee wrote in a message she shared alongside a carousel of photos of Kirk on Instagram. “It’s true what they say — God really does take the best ones first. And Kirk was the best of us. His heart, his soul, his light… it was something you don’t come across often. He was our rock, our joy and the one who kept us all connected.”

SallyAnn Salsano, the executive producer of Floribama Shore, also reacted to Kirk’s death.

“We are heartbroken over the passing of Kirk Medas, a beloved member of our Floribama Shore family,” she said in a statement to TMZ shortly after news broke. “Kirk brought light, laughter and loyalty to every moment — both on screen and off. He was more than a cast member; he was family.”
